Guest guest
Hi all, new to the group and a new Vitamix user too. My story is probably a little weird but what drove me to taking the Vitamix plunge was making margaritas with our old blender that wouldn't crush ice well, wouldn't pour without dripping all over and was hard to get the top on right any time. The kitchen became a battlefield last week. Anyways, we were going down to Seattle last week to look around some restaurant supply stores for other things and I noticed they all sold the Vitmix blenders and none of the lower end units. I asked one of the merchants just what was it that made the Vitamix ones so good that they could sell them for that much money. I was amazed at the price tags. I was told that it as the power, reputation, and just plain performance. I was also told that as a consumer I would also be well served with the 5200 even though it had a little less power than the commercial units. When I got home I researched pretty hard on the Vitamix and also on the Blendtec. I located a live demo at a local Costco ad even my wife was impressed and ready to buy after we spent some time discussing. So far we have made some delicious green smoothies, a frappachino, and I took some dehydrated green peppers and made pepper powder out of it. Worked great sprinkled on spaghetti. My wife hates vegetables but now she too is pumped about getting more greens down. I have a lot of other drinks on my mind now other than margaritas :-)
