Guest guest
Thanks Gordon, Yes it does hurt to breathe sometimes and on good days I have trouble catching my breath. Just pressed where you said your Rheumie did-oh my it hurts. Do they treat this with steroids when bad? Of course the reason I wanted to know what it is is so I would know how to treat it. I think I am going to drive 75 miles to see a new Rheumie recommended by Mayo. These Docs were trained at Mayo and it is way closer. There are 5 Rheumies within a few miles of me but I am not satisfied with them. Thankyou for sharing your experience. Hope you continue to feel better! Best Wishes, Marti
Guest guest
Marti, They can give steroid injections (inter-costal blocks) for costochondritis, but they can weaken the cartilage. I have not had them as rheumy and pain specialist say it is too wide spread (that's also what they say about my spine - too generalised). Treatment is basically with medications we already use for PA, but oral prednisone can help too. A heat pack on the chest also is comforting. All the best, Gordon [ ] Re: thanks for support Thanks Gordon, Yes it does hurt to breathe sometimes and on good days I have trouble catching my breath. My niece is just moving to the twin cities to begin teaching. Her biggest problem is allergies-othwerwise she is healthy. I wouldn't mind having the name of your phenomenol Doc. Guest guest
Hi, Alice, , Moses, Sharon, , , and all of you others who know who you are! (sorry if I missed your name individually!) Nope, I haven't run yet, Alice. Would I miss a chance for warm fuzzies from this crew? No way! LOL I will be going to NY on Tuesday. Many thanks for responding to my many private e-mails to you asking for comfort and advice! - I only found out late Friday afternoon that my surgery was staying on the doctor's schedule. His wonderful office staff has taken care of everything. In fact, I think he will be surprised to see me in surgery on Wed.! LOL I didn't want to make an announcement I wasn't sure was going to happen. I still wouldn't be surprised if I was canceled at the last minute. - it is so sweet of you to think of me in this difficult time for you. I just visited my Mom in Fl and I can't imagine the pain you are going through. Thank you so much for your thoughts and I hope time and loving memories help ease your pain. Thanks to all of you who have sent me prayers and good wishes. I love the hugs and the dog slobbers, too! ) Thanks to you who sent private e-mails, as well. A very special thanks to Munson (Snoopy!) who has walked me through the surgery, the hospital and given me reminders about what to ask for from the staff. She has recently used the same doctor and hospital as I will be in, (NYU) and has been a wealth of information. I do want to say something here about brands. Don't stop breathing, now, it's gonna' be all good! LOL I have a Nucleus 24C now, and will be reimplanted with the Nucleus 24C soft-tip. Things can go wrong with any brand, the CI is a machine. They break down and prozac doesn't help like it does for humans! LOL I want to thank the amazing Lorie Singer, who works for Advanced Bionics. Lorie was my first contact when I started researching the CI for myself. She sent information and explanations and answered every question I had. When I chose the Nucleus (AB had recalled the implant to remove the positioner at the time, but was back on the market the week I had my original surgery) she stuck by me, offering support and comfort. We have stayed in touch, and again, she has been here for me now. I can't tell you how much that says about her character and her ethics (not to mention my good taste in friends! ) ) I'm sorry this has gotten so long (but if it wasn't I guess it wouldn't be me! LOL) Again, thanks, everyone!!! I will let you know as soon as I can. ) Jackie
Guest guest
Jackie, I know who I am and probably some others do and give a great sigh. LOL After all this time, I am sure you are filled with renewed hope. If your surgeon is not expecting you, pin a note on your gown and tell him Hi! Guess who? Guest guest
Hello ! I'm so happy the day worked out well for you. I'm especially glad that your family was helpful, and maybe even fun, instead of something from a comedian's monologue. Cool, in Brooklyn

Guest guest
Lesley I am so glad that your surgery is over with and you are doing pretty well! You should find that some of your symptoms are improving over the next weeks. It varies considerably from person to person and the time it takes to get better really has no correlation with how much better you will get! Take it easy for a couple of days and make sure to drink plenty of water and get rest. Hugs, kathy > > Thank you everybody for your support i have had my surgery [6 oct]and > i have finally got rid of them horrible toxic bubbles i feel liberated > and better emotionaly already.i know ive still got a lot of detoxing > to do but i feel ready for it.i hope for your sake [HA HA] my brain > fog gets better soon cos i will be needing alot of advice thanks again > everybody and a very speical thanks to Sue > Lesley >
Guest guest
, the best thing sister is just to take it day by day. Wake up each new day and try to conquer that day. Don't try to look to far ahead, cuz that can be scary and or overwhelming. You are doing great!!! :-) And I am so glad to hear that the kids seem at peace. kids are very resilient, they will make it through this and be fine. hard times build character in us. :-) take care and have a great day today!! big hugs, > > Hello again, > I just want to say a huge thank you to all of you that wrote to me > today. When I'm feeling down and weak, I've read and re-read your messages. You are giving me strength and I need all your prayers. It's been a little easier today, I only cried about half of it!! I'm getting my apartment together, but there's still a long way to go. I had a little slip when he sent me a text calling me a b----, when I was picking kids up from school. I'm tired of crying in front of kids, and I think they are tired of it too. My kids are handling it great!! I can see the peace in my son so easily....and my daughter is getting there. I got some of your phone numbers and will be calling. I get weak so easy and he continues to blame me for everything. I never realized how weak he is, but I'm starting to see it, I guess he's threatened by me. Take care and thanks so much!!Dob 8/13/07211/191/140 Be a better Heartthrob. Guest guest
It can be overwhelming , no one truly gets it unless they are in it like we are. Work for a major pest control company and they are understanding. Faith is important to me and keeps me going. I have learned it is up to me to make this work. Iknow I am in remission but relying on gleevec. This firt year is an adjustment. I believe it is better to face the reality that there will be times of frustration , doubt and other negative feelings. Recognize them , deal with them and move on. At 37 yrs old hard to just turn it off , used to going going going. Like I said I'm learning and adjusting. This site is encouraging and informative. Appreciate the encouraging words. Basicly there is a lot on my plate and it is difficult to clear the plate. I know I have torecognize realities and deal with them daily. \ chris
