Guest guest
Hi, Name here is Skip I was on sprycell for about 6 months I had to have my chest tapped three times in that period First they took two 500ml bottles next time three half bottles and the next time they took two. It was NOT painful, well at least the doc that did me was good. They then took me off sprycell, as there is a very high percent of people that do have PE with sprycell. in all cases my lung could be hardly seen as there was so much PE. I am back on Nilotinib, although I still have some PE around my right lung, not enough to tap. Guest guest
I wonder what the rate of PE is on Sprycell? I have noticed a lot of post where PE occurred. I think I can live without that one happening! =) Now about 2.5 weeks into Sprycell, doing much better, now. But, am tired a lot, but the head pain is much better. Guest guest
I was on Sprycel for 3 years before I got PE. Had to get my lungs drained. I don't know how much they took but it looked like about 2 or 3 cups. They stopped my sprycel and put me on Tasigna. No problems since. Guest guest
Just wondering how you know (without going to the doctor) if this is happening -- PE? Will you know something is happening before going to the doctor? Guest guest
I too had pulmony edema after taking sprycel for 6 weeks. Was rushed to ER and had full cardiac attention. After being taken off sprycel and going back on gleevec, have not had that problem. however I still have side effects e.g. weight gain (40 lbs), edema, fatigue, etc. but gleevec has worked well otherwise. Guest guest
With me, I found it hard to breathe, and had a lot of pain on my right side, in the chest. I went to the ER thinking I was having a heart attack, and was misdiagnosed with pneumonia, even though I kept telling them pleural effusion was a side effect of Sprycel. Eventually I had to have the procedure done, they removed over 1 1/2 liters of fluid, and I hear everyone saying it was painless, well, I must have had a novice do mine because it was far from painless. The procedure itself did not hurt, the needle did not hurt, but it hurt towards the end of the procedure, the more fluid they took, the more it hurt. Do not know why. I was treated with mega prednizone and lasix, and taken off Sprycel. Guest guest
Actually I did not know-they found it from a chest X ray. I guess the Dr. heard fluid in my lungs. Guest guest
You can hear it, have your partner put two fingers at the top of the lung and tap with the other hand, work your way down the lung you will hear a hollow sound until you hit fluid then it will be a dull thud. my doc showed me this, he said my wife could check it to see if I am building up anymore fluid. right now it is about the bottom 1/4 then the thud. Guest guest
thanks everyone for sharing, I was wondering, had a feeling it was like it is, the how you know part. I had developed fluid around the heart once, it was painful to breath, I cannot even remember how that was treated, but it was not drained, I recall that. cheers, chris **************A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above.
