Guest guest
Hi As with any of the symptoms-it will pass-don't fight it. If you are tired and can rest do so. Go to bed earlier. Ask for more help around the house. Hang in there. I know the feeling. I was the same way when I was first on Gleevec. Since then I have gone from Sprycel to tasigna. Take care. Guest guest
Hang in there if fatigue is your biggest issue... for most people it gets better. Some days are worse than others but unless the plan is to move you to another drug- stopping Gleevec isn't really an option. I'll take the crazy and sometimes painful side effects of gleevec over losing my life anyday. Guest guest
Need cash flow and insurance only bread winner. My dr. never has said anything about chemicals. Thankfully I don't handle to much in my role in company. Been in this line since 01. Guest guest
Thanks I have an appt with my doctor soon, and I need to bring it up to her. From: Rosen Lum <rrosenlum@...> Subject: Re: [ ] Tired Date: Friday, August 13, 2010, 11:54 AM Hi, ! My doc tells me the no. 1 criticism people have of Gleevec is the fatigue it induces. I was just sleeping my life away. Then I got moved onto Sprycel, and now Tasigna. I still get fatigue, but not to the degree I had with Gleevec. Guest guest
Hi : Have you had your blood tested lately. Maybe your counts are low, but I have always felt tired with the Gleevec. Some days are not so bad, and then I might have a few days where I feel exhausted. Also, if I think back to what I did for the day or past few days I can sometimes attribute the fatigue to just overdoing it.     So many opinions on drug of choice, but I have been on the Gleevec since 2000, and I have never thought of switching unless it stops working. I still get the foot and leg cramps, fatigue, edema in the eyes. I am just glad it has worked for me. You have to do what makes you feel good, even if your doctor suggests a switch to another drug. Guest guest
Hi  I had my last appt. in May and I have another appt. next month, but I did have a physical last month and everything came back good. I always think I over do it, but sometimes I feel like I am just making excuses. I work 40 hours a week, and do the everyday, cooking and cleaning. Sometimes I feel bad that if I cant handle it with just my husband and I, that I shouldn't be considering children. I don't want to switch, I am gratefully doing so well, other then the fatigue, and the ugly circles under my eyes. I am just worried that about the last 3-4 weeks I have been depending on coffee and soda, to get me threw the day.  From: andrea silveira <formiga101@...> Subject: [ ] Tired Date: Friday, August 13, 2010, 2:50 PM  Hello  I have been on Gleevec since Nov. 2003. Guest guest
, In January, I went on the interferon/Gleevec trial. Interferon was BAD stuff. :-) I was on Gleevec since Sept. 2007. I just wanted off the medication. I hated feeling so tired. Now, I didn't have any of the other side effects, just tired all the time. No energy. After I got off the interferon - it was sending me into depression FAST, and I gained like 10 lbs in 2 months. doc at U of M said he'd be okay switching to another med. We went with Tasigna, because I was already approved through Novartis. I LOVE IT. I am now back to the weight I was before a started Gleevec at all. (Still have more to go.) I don't have to sleep and take naps almost every day. There are days in which I still do, but it is because I over do it. But, I am exercising and living life again. I understand the 'don't rock the boat' mentality, but my boat was sinking! Tasigna (compared to Gleevec) gave me wings. :-) Tammy PS. Today is 3 years since the day I had my spleen removed because it burst w/ too many white blood cells. Guest guest
Hi I also get very tired and all my blood counts are fine. I put it down to Glivec (though I'm forever grateful for it). Tiredness and fatigue have been constant now since I was diagnosed in November '04. Some days I feel so tired I don't want to do anything at all. I work fulltime, over 40 hours a week, self-employed from home, and that together with a little housework is enough for me in the day. Every time I go to see my haematologist, the first questions they ask are " how are you coping with the tiredness, fatigue and lethargy? " I was once a very active person, did everything. Now I feel I don't do anything at all.
