Guest guest
Dear Kim, Neutropenia is when your neutrophil count (one type of white blood cell counts) is lower than the bottom end of the range. My neutrophil count has been low since December or September 1999 (can't remember which - should go and look it up, but in a rush). It seems to be a symptom of GD but can signal other problems too. Another one of those "could mean many things" symptoms. I never understood why anyone liked black tea! I am drinking a fair amount of herbal teas and am assuming that they don't do anything too much to you - pretty sure they are tanine free, but was going to bring that up anyway as they are red - strawberry flavoured. Does the red= iodine rule apply to my favourite strawberry, elderflower and vanilla tea? Please say no! DAWN Dawn, see if the ingredients say RED in them..if so avoid..Kim

(dawn rose) Reply-to: hyperthyroidismegroups hyperthyroidismegroups I also have no-one confirmed in my family with autoimmune disease, except my sister has ankylosing spondilitis and has the HLA B27 antigen - I did find out what that meant at one point but can't remember exactly. However, our understanding of Thyroiid disease has developed in the last 50 years, even 30 years so older relatives may never have been diagnosed. I'm sure most people have a "Great Auntie Ethel" in their family who was considered a whinger, a bit odd and a hyperchondriach. If you go back enough generations, I reckon most people would find someone like this in their gene pool and who knoiws what they were suffering from. I think there is a difference between "genetic" and "hereditary" in popular understanding (definintely in mine!)... heridatry means someone in your family had the same disease, genetic means Great great uncle Albert might have had the same thing as you and you never met him. Also... it seems that there is nearly always an environmental trigger for these things as many more people have the suseptibility than actually get the disease (I'm talking about other autoimmune diseases here, I THINK i READ that thyroid disorders always come out in the end... is that true Elaine??). Still, I like the idea that a combination trigger is required to set the disease going... like stress+an undiscovered bug+copper/mineral deficiency etc etc. or any combination of unknown factors. That's the same for Ankylosing Spond. They reckon they have tracked down the triggering bug for that one... or at least there is definite research on it (something beginning with E I think!!). DAWN Dawn, what is it your sister has..I mean what does it do and what organ does it affect? I never heard of it but then again never heard of Graves until now ( Kim

Could you please pay another visit and ask the pharmacist for the letter they received giving them authorization to switch formulas? Would love to have that for our SSRI Crusaders files. You know what this tells me? That there are an awful lot of people wanting to get off the drugs, and they are becoming sufficiently informed enough to know that a slow taper is best... ************************************** Dawn, I went back to the pharmacy and the regular pharmacist was back. I asked about the above issue and this pharmacist said no, that is not true. I would still need to get authorization from my doctor to switch from pill form to liquid. So I don't know where this interim pharmacist got her info, but I also looked around some pharmacist- related legislation websites and I couldn't find anything about it either. Guest guest
Hi Dawn I agree with Claudine....I was once called in for an " abnormal " pap test....it turned out that I had went from a number 1 to a number 2....which simply means a change, not necessarily cancer. They monitored me every 6 months for a few years, then that was it. Don't panic...it will probably be ok. Guest guest
Hi guys, sorry I didn't write back sooner. We went to my mom's overnight. she lives in Washiington Crossing and my sis who is due with her first on May 10th came over so we shopped and just hung out and then the guys went to the driving range this morning. Once I move up closer would probably be better, for us to hang out. I volunteer daily at the kids school which is fun but actually more tiring then when I used to work part time before the business closed down. ( ) Dawn Dawn, I think that lunch or dinner would be fun sometime. Maybe when gets up this way we can all meet.....orrrrrrr, if would like to meet us now, maybe we could meet somewhere in NE Philly. I am free - when all the kids are in school and I have no other obligations - between 9:00 A.M. and 2:45 P.M. Another option might be a late breakfast. That way we wouldn't feel rushed for time. Refresh my memory- do you have little ones still at home? I seem to recall you were just making plans to meet someone and talking about your kids.
