Guest guest
Hi Debbie and welcome, I live in Northern California, in the Bay area. My daughter is six and takes Prozac. I believe it is Kathy H. on this list who has info about how children's metabolisms process the meds so quickly that they very often take doses similar to those of adults. Weight does not seem to be a factor with the SSRI's. andra takes nearly 30 mg. of Prozac, but is larger than your daughter, about 55 lbs. She is still taking a fairly " lowish, " dose; the dose levels for OCD are usually larger than those needed for depression, for example. My daughter's only diagnosis is OCD, however she does experience depression when the OCD symptoms are severe. Anxiety is, of course, part of the package; the Prozac helps lower her anxiety enough for her to do effective CBT. Hope this helps. Take care, Lesli p.s.- Does take liquid Prozac? Raising the dose ever so slowly, just a little each day, helps us to avoid side effects. Dr. Jenike discussed this method on the OCD-L today, as well.
