Guest guest
Hey Bobby and Len, I as sorry about the trial, I know how that can be. Disappointing to say the least. I have been on Tasigna since Feb 08, and I finally got MMR. The first month can be rough, but you have dealt with worse. I am on 800mg, 400mg in the morning and 400mg at night. The only deal with Tasigna is you have to fast 2 hour before taking it and not eat anything for 1 hour after. So sometimes it creates scheduling issues. I take it at 6am and 6pm. Unfortunately, it requires me to eat dinner later than I would like. So that may be a contributing factor to my weight gain. Prior to taking it I was about 108lbs. and now 128lbs. But I have been off on my excerising for a while too...LOL, which doesn't help. ALL the best to you both, We fight by continuing, go warriors, you are still a big inspiration to us all. Guest guest
Thanks everyone for the info on Tasigna. I really would prefer to go back on Sprycel, it had no major side effects . I did not get pleural effusion until I was on it for 1 1/2 years, and this is just a temporary thing, until the Ariad trial gets up to a higher dose. Guess I'll just have to wait and see what Dr. Talpaz says is best. Guest guest
Hi Mel, I always love hearing from other people on Tasigna. I started in March of 08. I have had no side effects at all-even in the beginning. BUT!!! I have gained 20 lbs over the past few months actually since June when I went to 600mg. But like you I have been off on my exercising for awhile too and must get back to it. I have also noticed in the past 3 months that my hair is thinning. I hate that. Do you notice that too? Guest guest
Hi Jeanny, no, 1 1/2 means one and a half . But I have had CML for over 13 years. I just read your other email on how long we have to live. Today there is no death sentence when you get diagnosed with CML. Years ago, yes, today, no. There are too many new and good drugs on the market today, and they enable us to live long and productive years. Your daughter will live to see her grand children, and I am sure you can have a specialist verify this for you in a court of law if necessary. If you have a doctor that does not agree with this, go to another. I did more lab work so they can do mutation testing to see what's what, I am to get labs done every two weeks and wait for them to tell me what's next. I think it will be Tasigna, but I thought that the last time. The Ariad dose is not high enough yet for Len and me, have to wait a bit longer.
