Guest guest
Anyone ever sprouted popcorn? I saw it on one website, but I cannot remember where. The reviews were great, but then my computer crashed. Also, would they be grown in a sprouter or earth? -- Re: sprouting flax

Guest guest
I ordered online at Mumm's sprouting seeds. It has yet to arrive so I am unable to provide a recommendation. My kids love popcorn so I'm hoping this proves a real treat for them. Tom Re: sprouting flax
Guest guest
I got sprouting seed for popcorn from Mumm's. It sprouted very well, but I didn't like the taste of the sprouts. I found them incredibly, overpoweringly sweet. That wasn't the fault of Mumm's or their seeds. I just found them too much. They sprouted beautifully in the easy sprout. Guest guest
I recall Mumm's web site describing the seeds as very sweet. It will be interesting to see how that plays with the kids who are fond of intense flavors. I like you will probably pass on them in the end. Guest guest
Let me know what you think of it. After you sprout it, what will you do with it? Can you pop it after it is sprouted or will you just use it raw in soups, etc? I did check the websites that Bill gave me as well as others and I was a bit disappointed. Most of the discourage the sprouting of popcorn....it gets moldy and some say the raw corn is much better plus easier...so I would like some first hand info. Thanks Lorraine -- Re: sprouting flax
Guest guest
, Did you just eat them or use them in stews, etc? Did they take long to sprout and did you use the easy sprouter or grow them in the dirt? It is ahrd to imagine a really sweet sprout! Guest guest
I ate them raw. To be honest, I don't recall how long it took them to grow; a week or so, I think, rinsing twice/three times a day in the easy sprout. Of course, I was going for long sprouts, since that's what was mentioned on Mum's site. I don't think I would have liked them in a stew, unless the sweetness went away with cooking. Perhaps sprouting them short and including in a soup would be something to try.
Guest guest
Thanks, my interest is really piqued with everyone saying they are sweet, I can't wait to taste them. You got them at Mumms? Is that their website address....ww.mumms.com? -- Re: sprouting flax I ate them raw. Guest guest
No, the address is http://www.sprouting.com They have a lot of variety. I must say, however, that I didn't have good luck with their broccoli. But their sunflowers are great!
Guest guest
Hey Marilyn, Thanks for the tip! I'm gonna attempt the plate method, but I think I'll avoid using flax in my precious easy sprouter(: Do you think the plate method should work for Cress and Arugula as well? Cheers!
