Guest guest
Dear Sue, That is an interesting article. I know many people are not even aware that they are depressed. I usually try to stay positive most of the time, but when I was shut up in that hospital room for 9 days, I was severely depressed, and up to 2 weeks after I returned home. My neurologist sent me to a clinical psychologist when I was in for the sleep study. He reported to my neurologist that I was depressed. I just about jumped off the table and asked where he got off thinking that. He said it was because one of the questions was about anxiety and at times I was anxious. Well he took that out of context, who does not have pangs of anxiety at times? I then proceeded to tell my neurologist that the psychologist had made an appointment to see me to go over all my tests and he was a no show, so I asked him who had the problem? He then spoke into his recorder and stated " And the patient is not depressed. " I thought that was comical on his part, as I don't even know if the " on " button had been engaged. Well he listens to me now. He had never heard of Chemo Brain. The last time I went to MDACC, there was a department for Chemo Brain listed on the directory. I laughed and emailed it to my neurologist. He's come around. Sometimes I think we challenge them in a way that they never expected. I asked my ENT if I ever challenged him and he burst out laughing and said, " Oh, all the time. " So you see dear readers, they still have a lot to learn. Blessings, Lottie
