Guest guest
Just an update for everyone who gave me such great advice on my daughter's obsession with rescuing animals (I have decided this is what it is, vs. hoarding animals) and yes I can see how my taking animals to the shelter was enabling her OCD. It has been a week now and no new animals came into the house. She did ask if she could buy a rat at the pet store (I said no) but no animals needing rescue entered our lives in a whole week!!! Yay! I had a talk with her, and yes her anxiety goes down when the animal is gone. It's the rescue part, the feeling the overwhelming need to save the animals, that drives her anxiety level to new heights. We are working on NOT rescuing animals, or at least determining if they really need rescuing, or if OCD just thinks they need rescuing (In which case she can boss it back). Thanks again for all your help, you really gave me insight I could not have gotten for myself. Happy spring to everyone, Jay in Colorado (When it's springtime in the Rockies, it's 40 below) Anyone remember this old song?
