Guest guest
Hi Kathy, I am limited to who my daughter can see because of my health insurance, there was only one doctor to choose from. We are located in West Palm Beach, FL. This is all new to me but on the very first visit with her doctor she was put on 10 mg Prozac, and diagnosed with OCD, at the time I was desperate for help and any help was welcomed. The medication has helped a great deal but not without side effects (loss of appetite, hyperactivity). The loss of appetite has improved, and her whole attitude has greatly improved. (my daughter)was severely depressed before and having very disturbing recurring thoughts of a sexual nature and other very negative and frightening thoughts, many rituals of cleanliness, and also a fear of diseases. Her symptoms progressed very rapidly and she seemed to be a shell of who she was before. The rituals and reassurances have improved dramatically. Her behavior therapist helps her by playing games and talking about coping skills and ways for her to put the thoughts on hold and move on. After each visit s' attitude is much improved, but I am beginning to see some of the negative thoughts returning, not like before but more then last month. Also, I notice a change in her character, she seems more aggressive. The Doctor has talked about changing her medication in a couple of weeks or adding another medication to the Prozac. It is all very frightening to me and I want to learn all I can about OCD so that I can make educated choices and know all the choices out there. Thank You, Suzanne
