Guest guest
Thanks ! When I want to learn about something, I usually go overboard (in a good way, though). Also, my sis-in-law is a pediatric physical therapist for Easter Seals and works on many babies with all kinds of problems. She is the one who actually noticed Collin's problem very early. She thought it was torticollis at first, but now seeing him, believes it's more of an SCM issue. I love to share, so if I find anything else out interesting, I'll be sure to post it! Rhonda, Do you have any pics of your little one you can share? It's very interesting that you mention the SCM imbalance, not many people realize that weaker side can also play a role, especially in the latter stages of addressing tort specifically (righting exercises). I can remember looking at the back of my son's neck- at first you have to concentrate on that stretching, and after a little while the left side was so beefed up at the muscle, and the right just looked non-existent. Anyway, good luck, sounds like your in great hands with your sister! ' mom
Guest guest
Rhonda, We opted with the paint b/c we had an art teacher in the family - if I were decorating, I think I would have stuck with stickers- I was too nervous about messing up the band by painting the foam! It's acrylic paint, and I use an acrylic gloss varnish called liquitex about once a week. Collin's band is adorable! I love the stickers. How much longer will Collin be in his band? I noticed that your original estimate was 4-5 months... Does that mean he'll need two bands? has been in hers 4 1/2 weeks, and last week they said she only has room for 3-4 more adjustments (and she's going weekly now). Guest guest
NJ... life is ironic isn't it. I liken people who lecture and are full of good ideas, to those sort of people who stand at the top of the hole, and yell down to you to climb out and then tell you how... yeah right ! They don't even know what condition you're in and whether you are capable of climbing. Maybe some are capable and ready to follow instructions ... that's fine, but not all are capable.... some are sick, fatigue or injured. A person would never climb down in the hole with you and say, oh that's what it's like down here for you. I'll be your friend and maybe we can get out of this thing together. I would have thought a simple, " so what's life like for you each day? " much easier to deliver, than a whole chapter on all the ways you can help yourself. Then, goodbye and good luck ! I hope people don't forget that even within the circles of us " auto-immune disease " and RA people, there are different degrees of suffering. Some people have mild cases, and some are more debilitated. Some have bad depression as well which really knocks you around and sucks the motivation to change and get better, right out of you. Take care, Leonie Re: rheumatic Rhonda Leonie, I know just how you feel. It's hard to make friends when you can hardly make it to the kitchen to even get something to eat. I'm in your corner. Guest guest
Leonie - Where in NJ are you from? I lived the first 48 years of my life in NJ and recently moved to NH - the past 15 months have brought me many problems with arthritis, possible sjogrens, much pain, and a lot of questions left unanswered - leaving in the a.m. for a specialist in Boston - hoping to get some answers and hope there. Guest guest
- I didn't state my opinion for or against the bill, just advocated compassion. I am actually against the bill - it's a corporate profitizing mechanism created through corporate puppet politicians. Health care is about health, not expanding market potential. I'm for what other progressive countries have, single-payer, which this bill definately isn't. I'm for waiting either for a shift toward compassion, or a breakdown & replacement of our militaristic oligarchy with a system of, by & for the people. Though I haven't read the bill, I'm no longer living in Orwell's 1984, in the matrix.
