Guest guest
I don't post on here very often either, but i do read alot! It doesn't sound like shingles to me. I just got over having shingles about 2 months ago. I think usually shingles happen on the trunk of the body, mine was on my lower back. Also the rash is really painful, plus it usually look like a bunch of little blisters lined up in a row. Usually they blister and then they scab up and then slowly start to heal up and go away.. Well that is at least my experience with it! It sounds like you have some type of weird infection.. Like i said this was just my recent experience with shingles.. I hope you can get it figured out. I can't imagine how irritating it is to have a rash on your face! Hope this helps! gillian wife to Kris mother to 3 year old twin girls! gleevec 2005-2006 sprycel 2006-2007 BMT 2007- no Cml has been found since! > > Hey gang- > > Haven't been on for a while but read messages. Guest guest
Jen, I am on sprycel and get 'red face' often and it 'heats up' at night when it feels like i have a fever but i don't. I had what the docs thought was a raging case of pink eye.... But not sure now. Im on the third round of anti'b's to kill off whatever it was. So far so good. What i heard from the docs when i have the puffy eye and scales on my face was that hydrocortisone cream for long periods of time can make your skin thinner... Thus mor prone to problems. I have no idea about the shingles, but i hope you don't have shingles! My eyes and eyelids were bright red and uber itchy. They gave me drops for my eyes and that helped after one day, but said i should take them for a week. When it cleared i was very relieved as the pain was awful. Good luck!!! I went to the doctor last week and he instructed me to see a dermatologist, which I had already set up an appointment just cant get into them until the 8th of Jan which is why I went to the primary doctor. He wasn't going to do anything about it until I questioned if it could be shingles? He said it hadn't crossed his mind until I brought it up but decided it could be and put me on valtrex. Besides taking the biggest pills I have ever seen in my life, it does seem to have faded it out a little bit BUT I now have very red and itchy side of my eyes, the underneath of my eye is extremely puffy to they point that I can now see it in my vision line and its driving me crazy. I woke up this morning and my other eye is starting the redness. This itches extremely bad and the redness and swelling is crazy. Does that sound like shingles? or does it sound like an infection? I guess you could probably get one from the other right? I guess I will call and get back in today but I was wondering if this is related to the sprycel or just something caught from the compromised immune system? Any thoughts? Guest guest
Hi , my daughter had shingles earlier this year, it was the most painful thing she ever encountered. She had a rash that itched, on her face, and her eye was swollen, so she went to emergency. It was shingles, it lasted months, of pain and itching. I don't think what you have sounds like shingles, there was lots of pain with hers, but whatever you do have does not sound good either. I had a bad rash with Gleevec, but it was right after I started it. It's too bad you had to wait so long for an appointment, on the other hand, when my daughter went to emergency care, they billed her $500.00 ! that did not cover the doctor...get well soon, Bobby a (Bobby) Doyle Brecksville, Ohio, USA DX 05/1995 02/2000 - Gleevec Trial/OHSU 06/2002 - Gleevec/Trisenox Trial/OHSU 06/2003 - Gleevec/Zarnestra Trial/OHSU 04/2004 - Sprycel Trial/MDACC, CCR in 10 months #840 - Zavie's Zero Club 09/2006 - out of CCR 04/29/08 - XL228 Trial/ U.of Michigan 06/02/08 - CCR ( in 4 weeks) From: vegasrnjen@... <vegasrnjen@...> Subject: [ ] rash...Shingles....help Date: Tuesday, December 30, 2008, 10:36 AM Hey gang- Haven't been on for a while but read messages.
