Guest guest
Dear Bobby, Dr. Kantajarian is also waiting for Phase 2, as the first phase is too low a dose, that is why he never put me in it yet, he's just waiting, too. He seems to think I would be better of on a higher dose, but they can always lower it in Phase 2. Yes, there is a Phase 1 at MDACC. They always sign up more people in Phase II, after it has been trialed on humans. Some trials are picky about how many get in Phase 1 anyway. No, I have not personally received any of the letters and I am definitely not interested in hooking up with someone from my past. I looked at a list a long time ago from my graduating class and they were mostly from out of town and I never saw them at any reunions. I'm sorry the XL228 didn't work out for you and Len, do you know anyone else it did work for? You said you had another friend on it. Some day will be our turn, don't you think? About all I have is time, anyway. LOL xoxox Lottie
Guest guest
I can't say enough good about Ariad! Yes I have had some bumps in the road, but at the moment life is absolutely normal!! For the first time in over two years I have been able to step back from worrying about CML and have times and days go by where I just live and enjoy life. Obviously it hasn't been 100% perfect for every patient, but for many of us it has turned life around. I have my next BMB tomorrow so we'll see where I am at molecularly. Beth [ ] Ariad  If any of you listend to the Webcam at NCMLS that Greg advised us was at the website, you will remember that Dr. Mauro said that the Araid trial would be starting at all research centers around the globe at the same time. Here is more information on Ariad. Some have asked me for more information, but I have none other than what Beth and Bobby have told us and what is published and posted here. It now has a generic name of " Ponatinib " (all TKI's ending in " nib " , maybe someone will know the answer as to why.) Bobby has been giving us regular results of her visits to MI and she was PCRU from almost the onset. She can fill in with more details. Beth as far as I know was doing extremely well and even Len was doing well. Len was in blast crisis, but Dr. Talpaz took care of her and she is now on the mend. Act swiftly if you are remotely interested, the slots will fill up fast. " ARIAD Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARIA) announced the initiation of the pivotal Phase 2 clinical trial of its investigational pan-BCR-ABL inhibitor, ponatinib (previously known as AP24534), in patients with resistant or intolerant chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and Philadelphia positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ ALL). The PACE (Ponatinib Ph+ ALL and CML Evaluation) trial is designed to provide definitive clinical data for regulatory approval of ponatinib in this setting. Ponatinib has been granted orphan drug status in both the United States and Europe for the treatment of CML and Ph+ ALL. " " With the strong clinical evidence observed to date of hematologic, cytogenetic and molecular anti-leukemia activity of ponatinib in heavily pretreated patients with CML, including those patients with the T315I mutation for whom no current treatments are available, we are highly optimistic about the likelihood of success for ponatinib in this registration trial. We also believe that the time to full patient enrollment in this study and to potential regulatory approval of ponatinib will be swift.
