Guest guest
Call your local DS support group and get recommendations for a new Pediatrician, and start shopping around. NO CHILD SHOULD HAVE TO SUFFER.. that is nuts. For right now, if you can't get your current Ped to fix this, go to the ER of you local Children's Hospital and park there till someone helps. They may have a list of Peds who have knowledge of children with complex health issues. You have to advocate for the child and just keep looking til you find someone who can help- they are out there!!! Guest guest
NEVER Let a doctor tell you anything is 'normal' about pain in our kids!!!!!! My son had diahrea from age 1 till age 4 and the ped told me that 'kids with d.s. have bowl issues' and dismissed it. FINALLY when I asked, 'If you had a patient who didn't have d.s. and had diahrea for 3 years what would you do for them? His answer, "Refer to a Gastroenterologist." DUH! So, after seeing the GI, testing for lactose intollerance, celiac disease, etc. it was determined that sugar was the cause of 's diahrea and lo and behold after removing juice from his diet he had formed stools! Get a referral to a GI and get some stool softners, etc. They can help, and there may be some other issues with the bowls, like Hirshsprungs that are causing the pain. Guest guest
Today I went to the surgeon who did for her the Duodenal Atresia surgery. He told me that the area of the surgery is so tight and he taught us how to widen it at home. She looks better now and she started sleeping for longer time.Thank you all for your support [DownSyndromeInfoEx change] Stomachache Hello, My Daughter, 43 days old, did a Duodenal Atresia surgery at the second day of her birth. Guest guest
Ana, I had terrible stomach problems with Gleevec but it happened to me within 3 months. I hung in there then other complications came up so I had to stop it all together and go on Sprycel. I still had stomach problems with Spryecl. I had the runs all the time. Then after three years other complications so I went on Tasigna and finally I am normal and no stomach problems. But you have to remember that each medication reacts differently with everyone. Sprycel may be better for her, maybe not. Talk to your doctor about it. I hope she gets better. Guest guest
Does your mom watch what she eats with the Gleevec? I was better with carbs and Carolyn Blasdell (Dr, Druker's nurse) told me to have protein with the Gleevec. I no longer have stomach or intestinal problems when I have carbs and protein. I can not have salad only with Gleevec.
