Dear Sue,

No, I think you are right about the cause of the bone pain, it is actually a

good sign, so why am I not better? LOL

Your body is killing off the immature white cells before they can be absorbed.

Unfortunately, all the pain meds give me restless leg syndrome and I have to

take something else for that. Last trip to MDACC, they had received the report

that I had pleural and pericardial effusions. They decided to not give me

anything for fluid, because that was introducing another med to my body and then

I would have to take potassium and maybe others so I wouldn't damage my heart

muscle. She also said blood was like a medicine, I was introducing something

foreign to my body. It's a vicious cycle.

I had slowly withdrawn some of my meds with the approval of my doctors, but some

were slowly introduced back and now I have this awful dry mouth that is

attacking my teeth faster than I can keep up. Anything you take for pain causes

dry mouth, all the sinus meds, too, because they dry up the fluids. I think I

posted some articles on that last week and some products I used.

I'm happy your pain went away in time and true, we are all different. Some days

I don't try to read because I have fluid in my eyes. I think you called it

occular edema in a previous post. Some days I can't read the large print on the

TV screen and when I try to read, it's like being underwater. Here's an article

on occular edema and treatment. Didn't know they used donated corneas for that

if it gets too troublesome.

There is a plethora of adverse drug effects manifested in one of our most

crucial organs: the eye. In part, this variety of side effects results from the

eye being comprised of so many different types of cells, each of which can be

affected by drugs. The primary treatment in both cases is to stop using the

drug that is causing the allergic reaction, after consultation with one's

physician.

Drugs instilled into the eye that contain the preservatives benzalkonium

chloride and thimerosol can cause redness of the conjunctiva. If you experience

this, look for versions of your drug without these preservatives. Morphine

administered by mouth or intravenously can also cause red eye. Finally, the

spread of botulinum toxin (BOTOX) from the point of injection into the eyelid

can result in eyelid drooping and reduced blinking, potentially resulting in

damage to the cornea.

The retina acts like the film in a camera, sensing the play of light on its

surface and transforming the light waves into electrical signals that travel

down the optic nerve and then to the optical cortex in the brain which allows

you to see the images. Toxic substances can reach the retina through the blood

supply, potentially resulting in significant visual disturbances.

Prolonged use of the antibiotic linezolid (ZYVOX) can produce optic nerve damage

characterized by visual field defects, decreases in color vision and in vision

more generally. Erectile dysfunction drugs are known to cause bluish vision,

blurred vision and increased sensitivity to light. In addition, they have also

been associated with a condition called nonarteritic ischemic optic neuropathy

(NAION).

All of this and more can be found at the site below. As I read, I found more

useful articles. My eyesight has always been problematic for me, so I am

naturally drawn to information about the eye. Some of this I didn't know. Just

to show how the way they practice medicine has changed, I remember when I

received a prescription for my eyes and it made me sick. I told the doctor

about it and he said it was the silliest thing he ever heard, how could eye

drops make you physically ill. Well I think he may have been in practice too

long. Three weeks later, he committed suicide. I know there was something

definitely wrong with him when he gave me glasses I could not see with and he

told me to bring them back to the opticion and ask for a refund. I asked about

his visit, but I got no answer. LOL

And now Sue, I suppose that is more than you wanted to know about bone pain.

LOL.

Blessings,

Lottie
