Guest guest
Jeanny There are so many people on this sight have lived with leukemia many years longer than that. Only God can say exactly how long we have to live. True the nurse should not have said any such a thing. No Doctor can predict the future much less a secretary/friend. You cannot live thinking oh my gosh oh my gosh. You have to wake up every morning happy to be a live happy that you have your daughter and grandbaby. We all could get hit by a car, fall out of bed or jsut have a heartattack. But you cant keep doing this to yourself. Push all the negative thoughts out of your mind and only think positive, say positive and do positive. Guest guest
Jeanny, If you have a problem with your plumbing, are you going to listen to a carpenter about what he thinks about the problem? No, of course not. While both professions are in the business of making your house function, one function has nothing to do with the other. The same thing goes for CML. A regular family doctor and most regular oncologists know very little about CML and are not in any position to advise people on it. This unfortunately doesn't stop some of them from practicing outside of their field of expertise. As you can see from our members, there are plenty of us who have lived past 3-5 years. Lottie is pushing 14 years of survival and she hasn't even come close to any type of remission yet. Bobby is another one who has lived over 10 years with a marginal response and Skip is our warrior who has lived more than 30 years with no remission in all of those years. Each of these members was diagnosed long before we had Gleevec, Sprycel and Tasigna. Most CML doctors today are confident that the majority of people who are diagnosed with CML in this day in age, will live out a normal life span which is a far cry from the 3-5 years people had before the new drugs existed. Take care, Tracey dx January 2002 (which means I'm starting my 8th year) > ________________________________ > From: jeanny <jeanny-f@...> > > Sent: Friday, January 23, 2009 5:08:21 PM > Subject: [ ] i need help again , please respond to this one > > > Hi every one, im jeanny , its me again, I live in northern ontario and im french and my daughter natasha is 20 years old with leukemia, cml, > today my daughter was talking with the secretary of the lawyer of the father of my grand son, and she was telling my daughter every thing they had against her, and she said that natasha doctor said that the father have to be in the child life because in 3 to 5 years she will probably be fatal, and wen she went and see her doctor for cancer in sudbury , they said every thing was going great and she is only on 100 mg of sprycel and remision was just around the corner, and then her doctor here in kap that knows nothing about cancer, said she have 3 to 5 ,,, wow that was a shocker, that secretary was not supose to say anything, she can loose her job, but its natasha friend, and she told her any way, how can natasha family doctor say that, dam, its been over a year im on a dipression and im slowly getting out of it,, then some one just have to say something like this, > > Recent Activity > a.. 5New Members > Visit Your Group > Finance > It's Now Personal > > Guides, news, > > advice & more. > > All-Bran > Day 10 Club > > on > > Feel better with fiber. > > > Cats Group > > Join a group for > > cat owners like you > . > > >

Guest guest
Bonjour Jeanny, I strongly second Tracey. If Natasha has a good response and is in remission the odds are VERY good that she will stay that way for a lot more than 5 years. Being diagnosed with cml is scary and can be very emotional at the beginning, but there is a time where you have to make some kind of peace with it and move forward, we have only one life and it must go on. Life is full of dangers, just crossing the street. Once we are in remission for sometime cml is just one among many. Marcos. On a lighter note, I haven't heard France has any plans of invading Ontario ;-) On Fri, Jan 23, 2009 at 3:25 PM, Tracey <traceyincanada@...> wrote: > Jeanny, > > If you have a problem with your plumbing, are you going to listen to > a carpenter about what he thinks about the problem? Guest guest
Hi Jeanny, 20 years ago the life expectancy for someone with CML was 3-5 years. This doctor hasn't kept up to date. He is wrong. When we ask the CML experts, they don't really know. They think at least 20 years and many think that CML patients will live a normal life span. Guest guest
Hi Jeanny, My name is Eva and I live in south western Ontario Canada . Next month it will be one year since I was diagnosed and my doctor and the hematologist I saw both told me that with the drugs they have today they will almost 100 % guarantee that I will die with CML not Of CML. I am still getting used to this whole thing and I get a little scared once in a while and a little depressed but you will both be OK. Listen to the people on this site. I don't know what I would do without them. I am 53 yrs old and I work full time. Other than tired quite a bit I am just about back to normal. Maybe a little whiter than I used to be ...LOL. Take care and keep the faith. Guest guest
Jeanny... Remember lawyers are paid to find the evidence THEY want to make their case. I am sure they kept asking doctors until they found one to say what they wanted. Those statistics can easily be refuted in court. DON'T take health advice from lawyers. It is good that your daughter knows what the lawyers plan to use against her, and be glad it something so easy to prove that they are wrong!!! You daughter can have a huge impact on her health, and that can become part of your case. Write down all the things she is doing to keep remission! Eat well, exercise, takes her medicine, goes for checkups, etc etc.... It may be a good thing to have a father in a kids life, but i don know that father, so I don't know. However cancer is not the deciding factor. Breathe deep and focus on the good stuff.... Good luck!
