Subject: ISO gardening soap recipe

With ALoe vera.

I found a recipe online several years back for a gardeners soap. it was

really good. I have missplaced my recipe though I know I just had it not too

long ago. About the only thing I remember about it is it called for Aloe

Vera and some citrusy EO which i did not use. I think it also called for

cornmeal, I dont remember if it called for lavender petals or if I threw

some in for fun.

I will continue looking but fear it might have been on a site that no longer

exsist like snowdrift farms. FYI incase anyone did not know they closed in

December i apparently.

Chrissy, you can easily develop your own wonderful recipe. Gardener's soap

just needs to be moisturizing/healing and exfoliating. Using aloe vera

juice as your liquid, or even half, is a very good start. Use a rich

butter or oil, exfoliants (ground herbs, pumice, seeds, cornmeal, etc.),

and eo's that pamper the skin--lavender, patchouli, geranium, Palmarosa,

any number of them would work. Use no more than 2T. herbs and

additives/PPO. Of course, you already know that each eo must be considered

separately as to how much to use in a formulation.

Make a small 1 - 2 lb. batch to test out. You might have to make a few

batches before you get the one you like the best, but it will be time and

energy well spent.

I may have to do that. But I really liked the recipe I used before. :(

On the plus side I dont have to start from scratch i do have a label for the

orriginal soap I made. So I can have an idea on what oils were used. the aloe

was nice. I don't think it called for much. maybe 2 tbs added at trace for a 2lb

batch i think.

It was the only soap I ever added aloe to. not sure why, because it seems to

make a nice soap.

unless it is there and I didn't see it.

that is the one problem with suppliers close (not that creekside is but other

sites that did), not only do we loose out on great suppliers but we also lose

out on valuably resources. Snow drift farms had an excellent data base, loaded

with recipies and tips. over the years I printed up info on whipped cream soaps,

whipped butter, CP soaps, lotions and much more. Now it is all gone. :( It is

sad when things close up. :(

that is ALWAYS how it goes ALWAYS. also when you stop looking which is why most

times I don't get overly worrisome about things, it turns up sooner or later.

even if it is Later then sooner.

I FOUND it I FOUND it. The recipe came from MMS- the sage. called " how does your

garden grow. " for some reason the sage was one of the only sites I never checked

out. silly me. anyways the recipe was in my year end inventory notebook and not

my recipe notebook. Silly place for it to be.

I discovered it at 1am this morning after the dog awoke me as she was about to

have a seisure. First one that I know of in well over a year. After it was over

we went outside and I saw the notebook at the top of the steps, recipies tuked

inside. Funny how things happen. never thought to look there.

thanks for everyones help though. I learned a few new things in the process.
