Guest guest
I am wondering if it is worth using palm oil? With all the other oils out there should I use palm oil after knowing how the production of palm oil is harming our planet. Rainforests are cut down to feed the palm industry, and animals are dying due to habitat loss or being killed for grazing in the plantations. It just isn't right. Of course this isn't just palm oil to be considered either. I see those commercials for everything from acia berries and all kinds of other exotic " natural " ingredients used in haircare or the newest diet healthfood craze. that seems to be all everyone thinks about is natural this natural that but how many think about where these new craze items are coming from. half the time they are some item found in a rain forest, but if everyone jumps on the bandwagon, to consume (either internally or topically) these wonder botanicals, we will end up depleting the planet of said item. I mean it comes from someplace. Even if it is produced and farmed to keep up with the demand, where IS it being farmed and at what cost to other plants and animals?? Another growing trend is the use of bamboo, bamboo is all around in the form of dishes, to even clothing and towels. It is apparently a fast growing renewable resource. but where are they growing it in order to produce so much bamboo?? and what or who is lossing out in the process?? Just something I was thinking about and I am sure someone else may be as well.
