here we go again

Ava got in trouble at school today. I haven't been able to talk to the

teacher yet (phone tag) but I will tomorrow. Here's what happened.

Some of you may remember when last winter, when she was in 5th grade,

she was suspended for 2 days and banned from the internet for the rest

of the year for " accessing inappropriate web sites " at school. She was

pursuing an obsessional interest in risqué things and was looking up the

playboy channel. It's not that she's that interested in sex, she thinks

that's gross, she just likes the charged energy that it excites in a

group of kids. They were all giggling and daring each other, but Ava

was definitely leading it. I felt bad for the other 2 kids who got

suspended because they were just following Ava because she's so popular

and they weren't.

Anyway, yesterday while I was out working in the yard she asked if she

could use the internet to look up some music sites befor her piano

lesson. This is the first time since last winter I have let her use it

unsupervised. I asked her if she knew what I expected of her if I let

her use it and she said yes, she understood.

I found out today that what she did was look up the lyrics to some

popular songs that are bleeped out on the radio (like Dr. Dre's new

song), printed them out and brought them to school to show her friends.

One boy asked to borrow them and he got caught with them and told on

her.

I am so furious and demoralized! When she got home I told her to remove

the CD player and all CD's from her room. I told her she would have NO

MEDIA (no CD's, no radio, no TV) and I would let her know tomorrow,

after I talk to the teacher, how long that would last. Now I have to

figure out how to get her Dad to comply, since he's the one who bought

her all the CD's and the main thing they do is watch TV together, but

that's another story.

I can't believe how sneaky she is! She acts contrite but she's like

that girl in " The Bad Seed " , she's just sorry she got caught, not that

she betrayed my trust or misbehaved.

I have been on the computer for the past 15 minutes and she was supposed

to be doing her homework. She just walked in the room and I asked her

if she's done and she said no, she's been in the bathroom staring at

herself in the mirror. She is driving me nuts! And she is the absolute

WORST with me so I can really relate to that recent thread. GGRRRRHHH!
