Guest guest
Jim, One thing that was pointed out to us about SAT, etc. accomodations (our son is ADD and is eligible for them) is that when the scores are reported, it is also reported that there were accomodations given. Many colleges then ask for or expect an explanation. Apparently, many families in the Northeast have solicited bogus dz for their kids so that they can get extra time on the SAT's to boast their scores. It has become so widespread in some parts of the country that the college admisions folks are getting a little jaded about kids who have accomodations. While they legally can't ask too many invasive questions, for our kids who legitimately need the accomodations, it may be helpful to advise the college why the accomodations were made and back up that info with respectable medical and psychological info. Hope this is helpful! Gail in N'awlins
Guest guest
Thanks Gail With 's struggle on the PSAT, even with an extra hour this year, he performed at about the same level as last year. Sounds like a 'lose' - 'lose' situation if he still is unable to use the accomodations wisely/usefully. jim in san diego jjmcf@...
