Thanks Gayla for sending this information, very helpful.

In September, I got hit by Hurricane IKE. I really did get Iked. No electirc for a week but guess I was one of th lucky ones. However, Ike brought up a lot of bacteria and viruses from the Gulf region (my Theory) and I got Pnumonia. I was in the hospital for two weeks and then in rehab for 2 weeks. In that time they found that I had 4 gastric ulcers and gave me lots of medicines which gave me painful heartburn..they of course didn't have anything to give me that worked. When I got home I took their medicines until I realized that their meds were giving me heartburn so I stopped and started taking 1 teaspoon of raw honey every night at bedtime. Within 3 days the heartburn stopped and I have never had it again....5 months now. What a miracle raw honey is.

Anyway my question is - where do I buy bulk cinnamon? Certainly not the little shakers from the grocery store.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you all.

What is a weed? A plant whose virtues have not yet been discovered.

Yes, meds can certainly cause heartburn and, in my case, possible GERD. (Took NSAIDS for years for arthritis). I find if I feel the acid now, take a bite of apple, or a slice. It stops it immediately. I don't know why but I am grateful. And after doing this for a month or so, it has almost quit entirely. Yeah!!!

I buy cinnamon by the pound from www.herbalcom.com . Decent prices on all their stuff, quick shipping.

Some health food stores have a bulk section. Actually the grocery store Winco has a bulk section come to think of it.

I have a friend in Kentucky. Some of them are not expecting to get electric back until March. She said she will never again complain about paying the electric bill. It can be tough.

When I got heartburn I took aluminum free baking soda and before I finished drinking it the heartburn was gone but now the honey at night does the trick and no more heartburn ever,

Hi Gayla,

Thanks so much for this great resource! HerbalCom has great products and bulk prices. Have you tried any of the salves? Just wondering how you rate their quality. How long do you think the salves are potent? I was thinking of getting a couple of them for the medicine cabinet. Thanks again!

Peace on earth.

Cheryl I have ordered their psoriasis salve and one other. They did absolutely nothing for DH's psoriasis. $5 for a 1 ounce jar and no results. One of theirs might be good to keep on hand if you don't want to make your own.

If you want something to have for emergencies, I would make it yourself and keep it in the refrigerator so the oil does not go rancid. I forget what all is in the files, but a salve of comfrey, burdock, plantain, calendula, chickweed heated gently in olive oil fo 2 hours then thickened with beeswax will do nicely for many owies. You can also add some lavender essential oil as it is starting to cool.

All those ingredients will be found in some health food stores that carry bulk herbs. Or you can order from www.mountainroseherbs.com nd get small quantities to start with if you don't have them on hand.
