Guest guest
Noelle, I suggest that you photocopy the original IEP, then on the copy, highlight, add, underline, whatever - all the changes that need to be made. Then make a copy of this. This will speed things up for you when you do finally make contact with somone at the school. After 3 days, I finally got a call from the principle at Ziv's school. She's going to a new middle school next tuesday. Sadly, it seems that her best friend will not be in her class, which has my anxiety sky rocketing!! Social interactions are so important. I got the feeling that last years teacher really made ziv sound like a dolt! If she had listened to me she would have had a more successful year with ziv. BTW - the discusion on not handing in homework - that is sooo ziv!! The principle said that certain teachers are chosen for a reason.... and with my prying, she hinted that the teacher has OCD!!!! I will keep you posted! Oh, I cant speak with the teacher because the union contract only begins next week on the first day of lessons!!!!! sheeeesh! take care, eh? wendy, in canada ----------------------------------- >>Anxieties are running high here. We received his IEP in the mail and >>there are so many things in it that are incorrect and also the >>modifications that we discussed in last June's CSE meeting are not written into it. I've been trying to reach the Director of Sp. Ed at the school but she hasn't returned any of my messages. I'm so worried that if these things aren't in place by the time school starts and gets off to a muddled start where nobody knows what his needs are, we could be in for a crash here. This will be his first year in school for a full day so we are walking a thin line here between success and failure. >In the meantime I'm trying to keep calm and not let my high anxiety show >around . >Take care, >Noelle _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Guest guest
Hi , Great advice...I did some of the things you suggested....highlighting all the points and making notes but now I will copy them for the meeting. I still haven't heard from anyone and I'm just wondering if this could also have to do with some sort of union rules about when they are " officially " on duty. You are so right about social interactions being so important. With , they can " make or break " his capability to go into school.... And it just takes one good friend to tip the scale in the right direction. I've been in that situation here too but it has always turned out ok....it made him more open to consider new relationships and add to his meager social circle. The teacher match-up for Ziv sounds very promising...I keep positive thoughts flowing in that direction. Take care of yourself. Breathing deeply and trying not to get overly anxious, Noelle
Guest guest
I bought one of these books for Maggie and Sara's preschool class. Today Sara and Maggie turned 3! I can't believe how time actually flies when you look at it through years. It is just the days that seem to drag at times. Tomorrow, Teddy turn 1 year! That is totally unbelievable. That poor baby...he just blends right in. Preparing for School > > > Howdy everyone, > > Halloween was quiet this year - of course it had to rain didn't it! Guest guest
I think the PERFECT book would be " Hi! I'm Ben... " by Band of Angels Press! It is very cheap ($6) and GREAT pictures! Way simple and way to the point (no hopping around that makes kids think " oh! This is a topic adults don't like to talk about! " ). http://www.bandofangels.com/ Cheers! Guest guest
I just happened to catch Oprah one day last week when she had Shriver on to talk about this book!! said she wrote it with a non-specific developmental disability just to show children how everybody is different.
