A backup of lymph fluid will cause eyelid and facial swelling. Try

pushing on the area on your chest that is right above where your breast

starts, moving toward your armpit. A tenderness here will give an

indication of lymph backup. A good chiro can get the fluid moving

again with a few adjustments, or jumping on a trampoline for a few days

may help, as may Yoga, Pilates, etc.

Like poison oak or? It almost looked like water? filled. By noon it

The weird part is that last week waking up my upper lip was doubled

the size. Feeling numbed like from the dentist. Again, by noon it was

about gone.

Anybody ever had something like this happen? Any ideas?

Hi Christa,

This isn't going to help much, but my sister had a similar experience with her lip swelling and one of her fingers. She went to her doctor and they did all kinds of allergy testing and found nothing and no bug bites. He gave her benadryll (sp?) for the swelling and told her they often do not find the cause of this kind of swelling and just lump it under "hives." Like I said, not very helpful. Anyway, my sister thinks it was stress related. It went away after a few days. She got a couple of recurrences, but nothing since and that was almost 10 years ago. Have you tried putting some raw honey on the area? Let us know if you find out what's going on! Good luck.

Peace on earth.

Cheryl

Hi Cheryl,

thanks for letting my know of your sister. It does help. Since the swelling

goes away within a day I didn't do anything.

As I said, its probably nothing. I'm not worried unless it gets worse and

happens more.

I know EXACTLY the experience you're describing; I've had it happen to

me a few times in the past. On the lip, you wake up with one lip

(sometimes just one side of one lip) very swollen, maybe a little

itchy or maybe not, and HYPERSENSITIVE, like just running a finger

over it feels, well, maybe a little nice, really... The swelling

fades over a few hours and remains a little tender for perhaps 24 hours.

On the eyelid, it's similar, but potentially more uncomfortable.

Last winter I finally figured out what it is while living in the woods

for a while - just a plain, ordinary mosquito bite (or other bugbite

perhaps?) that manages to hit JUST the right spot. Something about

the lips and the eyelids that have an overreaction to the bite, which

make sense because they are both unique kinds of skin.

It's a little uncomfortable, and certainly funny looking, but likely

not anything to be concerned about.
