Guest guest Posted December 25, 2008 Report Share Posted December 25, 2008 I have a tiny little Pomeranian - 3 yrs old and first time mom - that had puppies on Tuesday and I think she has retained an afterbirth. She had two puppies early Tuesday morning and they were both dead. Then she had another dead puppy about six hours later. I thought she was through and ok or I would have taken her to the vet then. The next day she seemed fine and I had already started her on antibotics. But now she has puss coming out of her and she smells rotten. I have her on 200mg Amoxidrops every 12 hours but I'm not sure what else to do until I can get her to the vet tomorrow (if the vet will be open tomorrow and I won't know until tomorrow).I'm very experienced with raising dogs and I worked as a vet tech for several years and even though I know this can happen I have never seen it or experienced it.
