Guest guest
My almost 4 yr old tried melatonin, he took 3mg. it worked for a few weeks than gradually stopped working. My doc told me that was common. The pediatric neurologist has started him on much more potent stuff called Trazodone and anti-depresent with sedation as a side effect, this he said would not stop working, it has finally allowed me more than 1 1/2 hr intervals of sleep a night, now we sleep from 11pm-at least 5 with no waking. ahhhhh Good luck! <@...> wrote: OK, I'll have to order it with some other things I plan to get! I was reading some on it, is 3mg the dosage? Or do you start with less?? Are the pills big or do you use liquid (kids have hard time swallowing, still is only liquid medication). I think I'd like to try it myself, it seems to have lots of other benefits from what I've read; can't hurt! > > I tried melatonin on my son last night (first time). Guest guest
I am thankful to have read this message, for it is the same issue we are dealing with, with our 6 y.o. son. He is up to 3mg of melatonin for over two weeks (from gradual dosing since last October), and it's not working whatsoever. He will not wind down until almost 1 a.m.! I will be mentioning alternatives with his med dr. Thanks! Jane > > > > I tried melatonin on my son last night (first time). He was > > unconscious by 9pm (as opposed to midnight or later). From: evergreengarden <evergreengarden@...>Subject: Melatonin infohealth Date: Friday, March 13, 2009, 9:55 AM Hello, Does anyone use melatonin, or has any info or experience to share, please? I never pay much attention to supplements, but I just finished to read a book about melatonin written by 2 scientists and I wonder if perhaps it can help me with my profound sleep disorder and the ovarian cysts. I also wonder if it can add years to my dog as the book states and can assist my mother's health and make her feel younger. Please, if anyone has something to share, I'll appreciate it. Guest guest
Do you remember how much you took and if you took the melatonin from animal source or the chemical one? Guest guest
I believe it was a small dosage.. don't remember but it came from my chiro who is a naturalist so I doubt if it was animal - I want to say it came from algae.. It was several years ago. Suzi List Owner health/ http://360./suziesgoats What is a weed? A plant whose virtues have not yet been discovered. Guest guest
Just the thing I was wondering about myself Suzi. I heard that after awhile you need more to get the same effect and that 2 pills everynight will cause a person to have a hangover effect over time much like over indulgence of acohol :-) so is there anything else to help a person sleep better thats natural and please don,t say a glass of warm milkto be truthful I think we imagine a sceneral and place ourself in that position through suggestion,in other words negative thinking produces negative reaction, try just being content and throw your worries away to get a good nights sleep does more good than aids don,t you agree somewhatSuzi? Guest guest
Interestingly, looking for some info in the internet, I learned that melatonin is present in some vegetables and also in algae. however, the one sold everywhere seems to be the artificial formula. I found so much contradictory in the statements about melatonin that I don't dare to take it. Perhaps I would take one from algae, but who knows where I can find it. Guest guest
?Are you still in touch with this chiro? Do you know if he still sells it? I would be interested to buy it if it's not synthetic, but from algae.
