Cheryl I don't know if you can find it in a store. I milk my own goats and

drink it. Yes, very satisfying!

$5.99 a half gallon is cheap for raw cow milk. Here it is $7.50 and it is

partially homogenized. They say it is not, but when I hold milk in the

fridge for 5 days and it doesn't separate, whattya think???

Try to find a goat raiser in your area. Look at their herd and if you are

happy with the way they look, ask to buy some for your dogs or for soap

making. Most places it is illegal to sell without having BIG licenses.

No, a dairy type (as opposed to a meat type) goat can have milk without "freshening". Or if you get one who is in milk, she can be milked from now on. She will give less in winter, but if here genes are even moderate she will keep on milking until she is an old, old woman.

Cows are different. They need to dry up and have calves.

Oh, I'm glad to know that. One of my long time dreams is to move to another part of the country where I can have a couple of goats and these hens who can lay eggs, plus, of course, to plant vegetables and have fruit trees.

I hope one day...
