Guest guest
It is hard when we see our OCD adolencents so caught up in their ocd web. We truly can't change anyones behavior but our own, but the 16 y/o in our home is taking us all for a devastating ride. The rock bottom attitude is a hard one for me because OCD can be so trickey. Especially if you are thinking about " letting them take their lumps " . THis is an illness, one that can even fool the very person who has to suffer. So what to do? get educated ....have diffent plans or strategies, being crisis, support groups or your local NAMI. My biggest barrier is the front our child is able to carry : it is painful to see him struggle. There are times when he isn't able to face things....that is part of the illness....but at what point are we able to say is " rock bottom " ? That to me is not an option for tricky OCD.Asking questions about what helps...allowing our teens to suffer the consequenses of life but not to suffer the consequeses of a major mental illness.
