Candace,

which items were you not able to find? Most of these should be available at

just about any health food store? with exception of vanilla powder - which you

can easily sub from scrappings out of a vanilla bean pod.

OK this just shows you how small my food knowledge is....

1-1/2 Cups Almonds or Pecans ----- Where would you get these? I don't remember ever seeing nuts just sitting around at my grocery store (Super Target) maybe I need to go to a different one!?!?!

1/2 Cup Pitted and Soaked Medjool Dates --- when I see the word "dates" I think prunes. Am I close? Where do I find them if they're not? And what are "medjool" dates?

1 Handful of Shredded Coconut --my first instinct would be to look by the raisins and prunes but I have honestly NEVER bought or used coconut in anything I've made!!! You can stop shaking your head now. 3 Cups Soaked Cashews-- again. Where do I get nuts like this? I know they have canned nuts but those are salty and gross so I'm guesing that's not what its talkin about!!!

12 Tbsp of Agave Nectar ---- NO clue on this one!1 Tbsp of Vanilla Bean Powder - No clue on this one either! Vanilla Bean Powder? Never heard of it!

I can get all these ingredients at my local Safeway. What ingredients are you questioning?

try taking the recipe to a local grocery store and see if they can

help you identify / find the ingredients... that way, you'll be able

to gather all ingredients while there instead of gathering

descriptions via email only to have the same problem finding them at

the store.

hope that helps!

good luck!

Well the grocery store I go to has a bunch of 15 year olds working there. Last time I asked a question they didn't know what ginger was! Turns out they didn't have any - which is why I couldn't find it.

Maybe I'll try a new store altogether!

That's another thing I've been meaning to do.... see if I can't find a health food store closer to my apt. A lady at work goes to one that's over an hour away! With all the focus (by a growing # of people) there has to be one closer!

I was hoping all these things were common enough I could get them local. But my local grocery store doesn't have much selection so I guess its time to hop in my car......

P.S. Am I the last to find out that baby carrots are soaked in water and chlorine before bagged? And that's what the white is after a few days of having them... chlorine coming out.

I'm learning all sorts of gross stuff out these days.

Candace,

if you cant find all the ingredients in close enough driving distance, then try

here:

http://livesuperfoods.com/seeds.html

They dont have the greatest prices, but i think if you factor in driving more

than 30 minutes away (and Back) or more if you have to go to multiple places, it

may come out to be just as affordable?

Also instead of driving around, do an online search for a Whole Foods or Trader

Joe's who both have organics (and TJ's is way more affordable) then plan your

weekly or monthly purchases around the trip if you can?

It's at least a 40minute trip one-way for me to the closest Whole Foods or

Trader Joe's, but i dont mind since the 2-stores are within 10min of each other

and i usually plan my shopping trips to that side of town

good luck,

Don't know how true this is, but I read that 'baby' carrots don't grow that

way. They are regular carrots that are older damaged or otherwise something

wrong with them that are cut down to that size , to sell.

I watched a Food Network thingy on carrots, and they actually showed the process of making "baby" carrots. They are just sliced regular carrots, peeled, and "processed in a special solution to preserve freshness". I never buy them. I just take regular carrots, scrub them (I don't peel our carrots) and cut them to desired sizes depending on what I'm using them for.

gets carrots almost every day in his school lunch. His lunches are mostly fruits, at least two types, and veggies, usually carrots and broccoli (though he is warming up to cauliflower), and an organic juice drink. Some mixed nuts (like us), and a special treat.

As always,

Peace, love, laughter

Thgere are really some varieties that are tiny, like Babbette or

Fingerlings. Then there are the ones that are cut down to size and water

blasted.
