Guest guest
This was a good introduction to a situation which is difficult for friends and families to deal with. Throwing drugs at a brain/body imbalance can be a tragedy, I think of a past episode of Star Trek Voyager when the crew of the ship is transported back in time to the earth in the late 90's. A time traveler from the 31st century who landed in the 1960's was now an older homeless man on the street of San Franscisco, crazed and eccentric. He talked about how he was imprisoned in a mental hospital and injected with " primitive pharmecuticals " . That image has stayed with me for a long time. I have seen times when some drugs have helped to stabilize someone who can't maintain themselves anymore. Ideally, that would be a short term bandaid to give some safe time to dig deeper and make long lasting changes. Here's where complimentary therapies come into play. Food allergies, diet, nutritional deficiencies, I suspect chemfoods, and a lot of other angles come into play to correct the imbalance causing the disharmony. Unfortunately, most people don't get that type of support. Instead the drugs keep one person manageable and shareholders of a corporation rolling in profits. Increasing doses of more and more potent drugs seeking to manage rather than heal eventual ends in a bad way for the individual in need of help. Afterwards the family sighs in guilty relief and sadness and every one is thankful the drugs worked for a while and are ready to accept the next miracle drug rolling down the chemical pipeline. I had one person I was working with who had she gone to professionals could easily have been diagnosed with a variety of psychosis's and schizophrenia. When that angle started emerging (didn't see it at first) I repeatedly urged her to get help from them while we worked the nutritional angle. Unfortuneately she refused and this person became a long term " project " with her showing up at my workplace and other odd times. This became quite difficult to deal with. So while we are motivated by compassion to do our best to help we also have to tend our own sacred fire, recognize when as healers we are in over our heads, and be humble enough to go to others who are used to dealing with these type problems. Develop contacts thoughout the various healing communities to help support each other. Complicating the factor is mystics and lunatics frequently are swimming in the same water. Well, one is swimming while the other is drowning. A schizophrenia can be a door that is wide open that the person doesn't know how to close and without knowing how to control the mind the individual can be overwhelmed by the voices coming through. Thus sometimes an energetic/shamanic type healing is more effective than an exclusive physical approach. Ideally we would have healers or healer teams trained in a variety of modalities on a number of different levels. The lady mentioned above went to India and got her broken brain fixed by a Guru who knew how to deal with such things. The last I heard she was okay. Phew, that said, here are some miracles I've seen on the herb and alternative modality front: Wheat and dairy allergies: Remove one or the other and the person is fine. Eating icecream everyday for a week straight and the person is near suicidal again. Take them off the dairy and 3 days later the person is feeling good again. Support team was critical to helping the person get the power to make the change in their diet. Nutritional Yeast for depression: Depression was an indicator of some deficiency, don't know what, but the Complete Nutrition mixes of different types fixed them up. St 's Wort mixed with Lemon Balm: Doc , a curendero traditional California healer and teacher, says for cases of depression he gets 50% results from St 's wort alone and about 90% with the two herbs mixed together. I haven't sufficient experience to back that up but I have seen in myself and one other person that the winter blues are chased away better by the mix than ST 'swort alone. Great results from incorporating flax seed meal and complete nutrition onto breakfast cereal, daily fish oils and bee pollen, and the panther piss mix of blackstrap molasses and AC vinegar. Again, here's the nutrition angle and I'm now nearly always suspicious of a food allergy involved that's been interfering with proper nutrient absorbtion. So look for an allergy while boosting the nutrient input. Food allergies/sensativities respond good to treatment with EFT, an energetic modality. However, if a person is already seriously down getting them to work the wuwu mojo can be a real bastard and results I have seen sucked. Thus we find the culprit (wheat mostly), get them off it so they can get their head back together, then work the energetic stuff. If they are in a good space then the EFT works better. Brain Clicking: Teach a person how to trip their own brains from a lower brain state to a higher functioning state. It's what advance yogis do but this website: www.neilslade.com teaches you how to do it in a simple scientific manner without the cultural/spiritual baggage that comes along with the older type training. Best thing since sliced bread. I rarely get a person to do all of that but usually if they are willing to take action making some sort of change in their life things start getting better for them. I suspect that's more important than the individual method we're using. Work in teams we are vulnerable alone.
