Guest guest
That sounds delicious (and easy!!! my two favorite things :~) Where did you get your mandolin slicer? Was it expensive? I think cayenne pepper and seafood are wonderful together, I always put it on shrimp and scallops. I'm also addicted to garlic chili paste (from Asian market). Thanks for the tip, I had forgotten about stir fry, gonna go write it in my notebook for a meal idea :~) Paige > My new Mandolin slicer has me making lean, pure, stir-fry almost > everyday now. Guest guest
I got mine at the Japanese/Asian market! Pick one up there the next time you go in for your miso and mushrooms. : ) It was $39.00 for the extra wide version (for cabbage, etc.) but there was a thinner one available too for $29.00 I think. I love stir-fry and am learning to lean it up and only use just a tiny tad of oil in my cast iron wok. I've been eating these stir-fry with white rice, but found that I love just the veggies and meats alone without the added carbs from the rice. > > My new Mandolin slicer has me making lean, pure, stir-fry almost > > everyday now. Guest guest
Cabbage comes out much better cut on a mandoline. Not sure what you'd call expensive, but the MUI stainless steel mandoline is the one you want: http://www.cutleryandmore.com/details.asp?SKU=17050 & src=Shopping & cam=Products & kw\ =17050 and here is a good article on how to cut cabbage for kraut: http://www.pickl-it.com/blog/326/creating-sauerkraut-thread-cuts-mandolin/ Also consider getting a 'cut' glove, which is a glove made of kevlar, stainless steel or something similar to protect your hand from the extremely sharp blade. Guest guest
I got an inexpensive yet very nice Oxo mandolin slicer at Bed Bath & Beyond. It has a nice feeling grip and one-piece thickness adjustment. I haven't tried cabbage yet, but cukes go through like butter! -Beth
Guest guest
I have the same one as Beth, the Oxo slicer. It was a holiday gift. I really like it and use it all the time for basic veg slicing. I haven't tried it with cabbage either. That will be my next venture. ;-) On Tue, Aug 31, 2010 at 9:43 AM, cowartbeth <cowartbeth@...> wrote: > > > I got an inexpensive yet very nice Oxo mandolin slicer at Bed Bath & > Beyond.
