"Eat yogurt. It contains the helpful digestion aiding bacteria your stomach may be lacking during an upset stomach."

I drink an Activia smoothy every morning and it almost always takes away the pain and I've only thrown it up once. My stomach sure likes something about it!

Forgotten Cures for a StomachacheA word to the wise as we move into the holiday season: too much food and drink can be the perfect recipe for stomachaches, discomfort, and other digestive problems. For most people, the holiday season means attending a seemingly endless stream of parties at work, and in the homes of friends and family. For many, this can also be a time for heavier-than- usual feasting – and scale numbers – thanks to second and third helpings of turkey, ham, and mashed potatoes, and frequent trips to the punch bowl. Despite their best intentions, many people overdo their holiday cheer. A pinch of moderation and a dash of common sense can go a long way toward preventing a holiday smorgasbord from turning into a stomachache. But if it’s already too late, here are a few natural cures for those holiday tummy aches:

Dissolve 1-1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon in 1-cup warm water, cover and let sit for 15 minutes, and then drink it like tea. This remedy can also ease diarrhea and flatulence.

Eat yogurt. It contains the helpful digestion aiding bacteria your stomach may be lacking during an upset stomach.

Drink lemon tea. It’s OK to add some honey for flavor.

Peppermint and chamomile are two traditional herbal remedies for stomachache. Both work gently to soothe an upset stomach, stop stomach spasms and reduce gas.

Place a piece of fresh ginger in your mouth. Periodically bite it to extract juice, and swallow.

Eating is often an automatic, and sometimes unconscious, response to the tension and stress that can come with the holidays. Don't beat yourself up! Just acknowledge what you are feeling and learn to listen to your body’s signals before reaching for more helpings.

Any love yogurt will help. Or kefir. That is a live food too. If possible made from raw milk.
