Guest guest
Thanks so much Gayla... I had given her Peppermint soaps for holiday gifts this year to help keep ants out of the kitchen, etc... and I suggested spraying a section of the plant with the water-mixed solution to see IF it might help... looks like I was "close" - I will pass this along... I appreciate the feedback - regards Patti How to get rid of Aphids on Hibiscus plants? Hi all, Figured I might ask here... a friend of mine has Aphids living off of her Hibiscus plants. Guest guest
Ladybugs. Sometimes local gardening centers will carry them, or your friend may have to go on-line and get them shipped. In the meantime, in-between time, she can actually simply wash the aphids off with a fairly heavy stream of water from her garden hose. I have also heard of using garlic water, or a mild soapy water to wash the plant. Ev "A hundred million miracles are happening every day!" Guest guest
Soap and water. A mild dishwashing detergent in water, put in a spray bottle and spray away. At least that's what I do with my roses and nasturiums. Shari
Guest guest
Ooh, cayenne. Never have used that, but I do remember Shaklee used to have an oily spray made with lemon and cayenne for ants. Worked really good. Shari
Guest guest
I agree with Ev. I like this method the best, washing the plant as best you can, then applying the ladybugs. The reason, ladybugs will stay around and eat any other aphids that didnt get washed off and if and will go to other plants in your yard to keep working. If you do anythng like Cayenne or neem, tobacco tea, etc, it tends to also repel pollinators and of course ladybugs, so you have to keep applying.
