Guest guest
I did not read through other posts, so my apology if this is already addressed. The theroy that i have heard on this is that the dry skin could be caused by a lack of essential fatty acids in many autistic children. Signs of this include: Excessive thirst, frequent urination, dry skin, dry hair, soft or brittle nails, dandruff, rough dry and/or bumpy skin especially on the upper arms or legs. Popular supplements (since most kids are picky and will not eat seeds, nuts, grains, legumes, cold water fish, and algae) include: Flax seed oil, Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA), Gamma Linoleic Acid (GLA), Vitamin E. What do essential fatty acids do that is so important? Those that are particularly relevant to autism are indicated. Guest guest
Larry, I use Miracle Foot Repair Cream. It is even safe for Diabetics. There are several sites that sell it. If you go to drugstore.com you can get free shipping if you spend a certain amount. This is the best stuff that I have tried. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Thanks for the info. My wife bought me tube last week. I have used it and it does soften. Guest guest
Hi Larry, I did notice a sensation of tingling when I first started using it. It lasted for about a week and then went away. I hope the burning feeling gets better. Best Wishes,
Guest guest
Hi Marjorie, I posted a little while ago about my dry skin. I was using coconut oil as an all-over body moisturizer as it's supposed to be very good for the skin. However, it made my skin even drier, as well as cracked and itchy. I have since switched to olive oil and it has improved a lot (although it's still dry). So, I think you just have to see what works for your skin. Most people rave about coconut oil...I guess I must have some sort of skin allergy to it. Helena > Hello: I have very dry skin (all over, it seems), I guess the result of winter, dry hear indoors, etc. Has anyone tried using coconut oil as a moisturizer? Apart from being very greasy for awhile, does anything else happen? Is it or is it not a good idea? Anyone have any other ideas of what I could use? > > Marjorie > __________________________________________________ >
Guest guest
Hi, I do not have dry skin, but rather blemished skin all over. I started using coconut oil all over my body and the blemishes started disappearing. I find the straight coconut oil is a bit much on my face, but I use the rose face cream from Mountain Rose Herbs and it has coconut oil in it, but mixed with other stuff that works great for my blemished face. Coconut oil is the very best moisturizer you can use. I use it on my face before applying makeup, and all over my body, particularly after a shower or bath. It is an excellent idea and it is highly recommended. I also use it for my hair. Bee
Guest guest
Most people rave about coconut oil...I guess I must have some sort of > skin allergy to it. > ==>Hi Helena. What is happening with your skin is not an allergy, but for some reason your skin needs coconut pretty badly because it is creating healing reactions on your skin. Given enough time it will clear up and heal nicely. You also need to take enough good fats internally, per the ratios recommended, along with minerals from ocean sea salt and this diet, to affect the skin and to increase your all of your cells' ability to utilize water. Guest guest
Hi Bee, Thanks for your reply. I also thought the same thing at first, but after 3 months, I couldn't stand it - the skin on my entire back and stomach was flaking off (leaving flakes all over the house!) and it was so itchy I wanted to rip it off! I was scratching quite a lot and was worried that I might damage the skin permanently. Maybe I could try alternating olive oil with coconut oil to lessen the healing reaction. Do you think that's a good idea? (I am getting all the recommended fats, sea salt, supplements, etc. and am on the diet 100%) Thank you so much for all your help, Bee. from Helena > > > ==>Hi Helena. It means your body is making new skin underneath, at maybe a much faster rate. Epsom salt baths also help. > Maybe I could try alternating olive oil with coconut oil to lessen the healing reaction. I can't use dove because it seems to flare up my folliculitis (inflammation of hair follicles) on my legs. Hello , Have you looked at Bee's files on dry skin? Here's one called: Dry Skin Causes and Treatments http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/skin2.php If you are showering daily, try to shower less to allow the body's natural oils to accumulate on the skin; do not use soap, in fact just water cleans just as well. See about getting a shower filter if you do not already have one, to cut down on the amount of chlorine, as chlorine is very hard on the skin and breathing it in the shower is not good for you either. If you take baths, putting a try putting a Tablespoon of vitamin C powder, a teaspoon or so of coconut oil in an Epsom salt bath (using 1 to 2 cups of Epsom salts) and soaking for 20 minutes. This is both soothing and relaxing! Once you get onto Bee's program and are doing all she recommends especially increasing your fat intake little by little and using all the supplements including cod liver oil, you will begin to see improvement with your skin. Remember that the body heals from the inside out, so be patient as you provide the healthy nourishment your body needs to heal itself. Hope this helps! It had the looked scaly and wrinkled. ==>Coconut readily soaks right into thirsty pores. Dry skin is corrected from within. > > Can this related to a deficiency? I must admit that my water intake is low right now. ==>It doesn't have to do with water intake; water can only be utilized within the cells if there are enough good fats (including vitamins A, D & E, Omega-3) and minerals. In fact the nutrients in this entire program work together so leaving anything out will affect the outcome. > > What can I shower with and moisturised with? I can't use dove because it seems to flare up my folliculitis (inflammation of hair follicles) on my legs. ==>Use natural coconut oil soap, or none. You can get clean washing only with water too. Shower and bathe infrequently which allows natural oils to build up on the skin as a protective and moisture layer. Bee

Guest guest
Is a soap like Ivory better than a simple glycerine soap? I know Bee recommended a soap made with coconut oil. I have been using a soap with coconut oil and it still dries my skin. I would like to make a soap bar (using either Ivory or a simple glycerine soap) as the base and then add additional oil or cocoa butter hence the question about which is better. ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Looking for last minute shopping deals? Guest guest
Hello , I would stick to Bee's advice since you are just starting out on her program. Give it a chance and let your body begin healing from the inside out and do what you can in the most natural way while you are going through the healing process. If you want to use soap, there are a lot of decent ones out there, you just have to ask around or search them out on the internet. A couple of good ones are made by Tom's of Maine. One is called Calendula Moist Soap and the other comes in Lemongrass or Plain, called Natural Deodorant Body Bar. My son uses the Body bar and really likes it. We haven't used the Calendula just yet, but Calendula is great for the skin, very healing so it should be a good one to try. Desert Essence also make a Tea Tree Therapy bar that is good. Hope this helps. :-) Debra NW Crichlow <renee_crichlow@...> wrote: Is a soap like Ivory better than a simple glycerine soap?
