Guest guest
I like radish sprouts for some zip. Please let us know when you sprout those jalapeno seeds! The Asian grocery store near me carries quite a few HUGE strainers and box style strainers. It's hard to describe, but there is an outer box with a strainer set inside and then a lid. I've found it works great for sprouting. I put the seeds in the strainer part and just start filling it with water to rinse. Pull the strainer out, drain, pour out the water, put the lid on and set in a dark place. Just be sure to rinse at least twice per day. During the summer I get sprouts in about 3 days. Sometimes I do leave it on the countertop and cover it with a dark towel to mimick being underground to force sprouting. You want to keep them in the dark until the sprout tail is about as long as the seed and then expose them to sunlight to make the little sprout green. We don't use our dishwasher very often, so I've been putting the contraption in there. Dark & warm. Works for me! Shari
Guest guest
, mauve? That is a surprise. Welcome bluebunny. Our is a heat-a-holic. , peppers need 80 to 90 degrees of heat to sprout. Try sprouting them in a closed zip lock bag - it will retrain a lot of heat. Why not habaneros? I bet they would be zingy!! My turn ons are.....oops, wrong intro. Anyway, sprouts are GREAT!! They are so easy to make that it is not worth buying them. Check out our "files" section for instructions how. It is so easy. You basically just need a jar and the seeds. Canning jars and cheesecloth work just fine. We make our own here in our household. Our favourite blend is alfafa and winter wheat. Better than candy! I'm still experimenting with sprouting jalapeno seeds. I'll get it right eventually!! If you have any questions on how to get started and such, pipe right up. Peace, love, laughter HI, will you please tell me where I can get spouts? Can I get them from the food I buy or do I order them or what ..I am a bit confused on where to get them and if I can use a canning jar with cheese cloth etc.. thanks so much!!OOPPSSYY, my intro.I am 40 yrs. old , live in ohio and i am currently attending school to become a LPN. Guest guest
What a great idea! As for the jalapeno seeds, I can get them to start sprouting, but they don't really form much of a tail. I've even tried popping them, with limited success. Peace, love, laughter I like radish sprouts for some zip. Please let us know when you sprout those jalapeno seeds! Guest guest
I'll try that. Thanks, Gayla. As for habs, the reason is that I don't have them as often as I'd like, as they are rather cost prohibitive at the moment. Peace, love, laughter , mauve? That is a surprise. Welcome bluebunny.
