I am seriously disgruntled!!

There isn't ONE SINGLE common brand of gum that does NOT contain aspartame. If I hadn't read the labels myself, I wouldn't credit it, but there it is.

Trident, Orbit, 5, Stride, Freedent, IceBreakers and I can't recall what-all else. Pfffft.

I now have to drive 25 miles to get a pack of gum that won't kill me - not to mention the basket full of cancer I get to toss in the garbage....

Who'd a-thunk it?

Next time I'm at the co-op I'll pick up some so I can remember the name, but I know they have gum with xilitol (sp). It has been rated as actually being able to prevent cavities. It's out there, just not at your conventional store.

I found this interesting Q & A article........................

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0NAH/is_8_32/ai_92283906/

I never realized the link with Fibromyalgia.

I usually keep a pack of gum in my home office desk, usually Wrigley's Doublemint or Big Red because they are not marketed as "sugarless". It amazed me when I read the ingredients!

I know there is "aspartame free" gum out there somewhere. I'll keep looking.

Peace, love, laughter

What's really crazy is they put that stuff in foods and drinks. Did you know that in order to cause skinny rats to get fat, so they can 'study' obesity. They inject them with Aspartame, Yes, Nutrasweet, in diet foods! Also it is an excito-toxin that kills brain cells. AND if you try to keep it OUT of your diet keep trying, because they list it as other chemicals now:

Neotame, but there are three other sanctioned names I can't remember, one is Amino-something.

This below is from:http://www.communicationagents.com/sepp/2003/06/20/aspartame_warning.htm

I will explain why Aspartame is so dangerous: When the temperature of this sweetener exceeds 86 degrees F, the wood alcohol in ASPARTAME converts to formaldehyde and then to formic acid, which in turn causes metabolic acidosis. (Formic acid is the poison found in the sting of fire ants.) The methanol toxicity mimics among other conditions multiple sclerosis.

People were being diagnosed with having multiple sclerosis in error. The multiple sclerosis is not a death sentence, where methanol toxicity is!

Systemic lupus has become almost as rampant as multiple sclerosis, especially with Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi drinkers. The victim usually does not know that the aspartame is the culprit. He or she continues its use, aggravating the lupus to such a degree that it may become life threatening.

We have seen patients with systemic lupus become asymptomatic once taken off diet sodas. In the case of those diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, (when in reality, the disease is methanol toxicity), most of the symptoms disappear.

We've seen many cases where vision returned and hearing improved markedly. This also applies to cases of tinnitus.

-- Aspartame

I know I’m preaching to the choir here, but I had to share this story…

We have a good friend who we’ve known for a couple of years who is a waitress at our local Carrabba’s. For all the time we’ve known her she’s had health problems…always looked a little pinched (had constant migraines) and stressed. She finally started the doctor route a couple of months ago and they’ve done test after test and given her prescriptions (that she’s not really wanted to take, so never got them filled) and she’s just gotten worse and worse, with no one able to find anything really wrong with her. Fibromyalgia and MS type symptoms…

We saw her last night and she just GLOWED! (This was only one week since we’d seen her last and she was still pinched and stressed and sick looking last week.) She was chortling! Her sister had given her an article about aspartame and she realized she had ALL the symptoms of aspartame poisoning. Little did I know she was *living* on diet Coke, for years and years! 24 hours a day! After she read the article, she stopped drinking aspartame cold turkey and within a day or two all her symptoms disappeared! She’s like a new person…

She said not one doctor ever asked her if she drank aspartame, and when she questioned the last doctor she’d seen about it and asked if that really could be causing her symptoms, the doctor said, “Oh yeah.â€

Crazy…

Hi Sharyn, I have never been able to use an

sugar substitues because they give me a headache so I just stay away from

them completely, not even a piece of sugar free gum. Not crazy at all.

I have but I don't like it. Still get that after taste. Maybe it's an over active imagination but I still taste something I don't like. I would rather use honey in place of sugar. Does it do as a sugar replacement?
