Guest guest
Some East Texans turn to nature to combat fluPosted: Oct 14, 2009 6:07 PM EDT Wednesday, October 14, 2009 6:07 PM EST By Jena - bio | email LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - While countless East Texans are awaiting the arrival of the H1N1 flu vaccines, some people tell us they don't plan on getting it. Instead, they rely on natural remedies and supplements that they said have kept them flu free for more than a decade. Rhonda Carroll relies on natural remedies. "I do use them and I believe in them whole heartedly," she said. She said they have kept her and others flu free for years. "I believe it's been about 12 years since I had the flu." "I stay very healthy and have no had colds or flu in many, many, many years so it's worked personally for me,"said Connie Calhoun who works at Morning Glory Natural Foods. Carroll said she won't get the H1N1 vaccine this year. "There's so many questions that are unanswered about it and I feel like there could be side effects that we're not aware of yet." "There's real concern about it," said Dr. Rima Kitley. Concern that is causing some to re-think getting the H1N1 vaccine. "Now people are thinking about what they're putting into their bodies," said Dr. Kitley. "This medicine might be good, but it might cause all kinds of bad stuff." Dr. Kitley recommends taking high doses of Vitamin C to stay flu free. "I don't know, two to three thousand milligrams a day," said Dr. Kitley. She said natural supplements boost the immune system and help combat the flu. "Vitamin D," said Dr. Kitley. "We're finding out that it really helps to fight infections off." "We use the elderberry juice and that's the main thing I do," said Carroll. Before you start any kind of home remedy, you want to check with your doctor first. ©2009 KTRE. All rights reserved. But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost. 12. Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death. 13. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
