Guest guest
moons - I've been using our home made tinctures for years and years - and I don't see why you could not do this in this way. it should be fine wendy Oregano I was wondering. Why couldn't I buy the large size oregano (you know food service size)from the store and make a tincture or the infused oil from it? With a tincture you take 4 oz. herb with 6 oz. vodka and let set for 2 weeks(shaking daily) and the oil the same(different measurements though). I know we are not supposed to have alcohol, but when you put a tincture in hot water the alcohol evaporates. What does everything think? Wouldn't that be a less expensive route? Or would that work? moonsSend blank message to candidiasis-unsubscribeonelist if you want to UNSUBSCRIBE !

Guest guest
Hi, i am delurking for the moment. Someone asked about oregano's latin or botannical name. you can read about it here: http://www.naturesgift.com/essential/descriptionm-o.htm#OREGANO also I dont see why people dont just infuse the dried herb oregano into olive oil. It would be a safer bet all round. You can also sprinkle the dried herb on your food. Guest guest
Yes, Marge, of Nature's Gift, is another friend (and fan!) of mine, and I believe she gets her Oregano OE from the same guy I have been talking about. Several reasons why dried oregano in olive oil is not a good substitute...only ONE of them is the fact that the dried oregano is a completely different species than the wild oregano Origanum vulgare, and lacks the potent cavracol. You would have to use pounds of the dried stuff, IF you could get it (O.vulgare..which DOES grow in my back garden) to get near the potency of a few drops of EO. Guest guest
It was suggested that my son take oregano to get rid of Klebsiella pneumonae. He refuses to take the oil and I cant blame him. Any ideas. karen
Guest guest
Hi , Speaking VERY generally here, oils are extremely concentrated. You wouldn't want to give your son an equivilent amount of herb, cause it is a LOT. I'm assuming here that you are speaking of an ESSENTIAL OIL. Can you tell me what you are trying to treat? I'd be happy to look up oregano for you in a few herb books and tell you if it is recommended for <whatever> and if there is a dosage referred to. Have you already tried strategies like mixing the oil into jelly or into other food? regards, Moria At 02:22 PM 7/2/2001 EDT, you wrote: >oil of oregano tastes awful! can I give my son regular oregano from the >spice container? will it work? >karen
Guest guest
<oil of oregano tastes awful! can I give my son regular oregano from the spice container? will it work? karen> ======================================================= As far as I know the only medicinal grade oregano spice and oil currently available is made by North American Herb and Spice Company under the trade names Oregamax and Oil of Oregano. It depends on what you're using it for ...it has allot of uses. Antibiotic/antiseptic. You may be able to use something else for what is the actual problem. For instance yeast/parasites try what Andy recommends...give ten times the amount of probiotic's .. Try posting the issue you need to address with it. Someone is sure to respond I have had luck in disguising it in OJ...Tropicana, no pulp, start with one drop and work up to 2 or 3. But some children will just refuse to take it. Good luck with your choice
Guest guest
I gave my son the wild oil of oregano one time or two, orally.. This oil was supposed to fix a vast number of ailments. I don't remember if I mixed it with anything or not. I probably did. I massaged a small amount of oil on the side of his lymph nodes under his ears. He started complaining of burning. I tried it myself the same way as I had given it to him. It burned too much. I had followed the instructions of The Cure is in the Cupboard. I suppose we are very sensitive to the oil. From what I read, this oil of oregano is a different variety from the spice that is bought in the grocery store. Guest guest
Hi Ben, Oil of Oregano comes from the plant known as Hyssop and is sometimes called the " Burning Bush. " ...once you try it you'll know why! ....be sure to have a large glass of water handy! ;-) LOL I first got started on it when my dad saw all the trouble I was having with allopathic doctors, so he brought over a large bag of supplements. Included in my goodie bag was North American Herb & Spice: Juice of Oregano, Oregamax and Oil of Oregano. One time when I thought I might be coming down with bronchitis, I went to my goodie bag and started taking the Oregamax pills. (Because I have an adrenal insufficiency, I have to always nip these infections in the bud because they effect me much more adversely than your average Joe.) This had happened just after I had completed my first parasite cleanse. Well, to my amazement, not only did it keep the infection away, but I was seeing a different kind of parasite being expelled (or maybe it was Candida). Later in my studies I found out that Oil of Oregano is not only antibacterial and antiviral, but also antifungal and antiparasitic. ...along with garlic, Oil of Oregano is one of my favorite herbs. ...I have a few favorites! ;-) LOL Okay, how I take it is I put between 10 - 20 drops in a glass of water and drink it quickly. (I tried putting 3 drops directly on my tongue, but I only did that once! ;-) LOL A fellow from another group I'm on takes about 6 drops with a teaspoon of olive oil. I tried that and really liked that method, too. But because I'm trying to lose weight, I prefer to use water. It did take me a little while to acquire a taste for the stuff, but now I really enjoy the bite. You can also fill an empty gel cap with the Oil of Oregano, as well. ...but when you do it that way, you will miss the bite! ;-) LOL I should also mention that I now purchase my Oregano Oil from my local food store at half the price. The owner tells me that her product also has all the scientific studies and is even more effective than the North American brand. If you are interested, Dr. Cass Ingram, author of " The Cure is in the Cupboard " was interviewed by Joyce Riley on November 16. (See http://www.m2ktalk.com/power.htm ) I believe they are charging a dollar to listen to the archived programs. Otherwise, just do your own search: http://www.google.com/search?q=Oil+of+Oregano Hope this helps! Guest guest
Hi Rayla, Regarding Miz Judy's web site, there is just so much information there that it would be best if you could find another computer or go to the library. (...unless Miz Judy already has it in easy file form to direct on.) Now, the brand name that I use is Herb 'N' Health (the name of a local store). All I was trying to say is don't get taken in by marketing hype, because I'm sure there is Oregano Oil that is of a good quality put out by other companies at a fraction of the price. You would just have to do your own homework and look around for yourself. They say that has to be medicinal grade, the one that is for human consumption, and that it is the wild Mediterranean oregano. In talking to the owner of my local store, I know that the product that they carry meets the above requirements. Guest guest
You could put the drops of oil in an empty capsule. I keep the capsules I open up to mix in food, in a jar, and use them for things that are bitter like grapefruit seed extract. These empty capsules are from supplements and not prescription drugs or ALA, DMSA, etc. > my son wont take oil of oregano. Guest guest
I've heard that the Oregamax by NAHS is good tasting and can be put directly on and eaten with food. The only thing I'm not sure of is if it's as effective in killing yeast as the oil of oregano. Maybe someone on this list knows... Sheryl Re: [ ] Re: oregano he won't swallow pills. Guest guest
Interesting to learn of your success with Oregano oil. I hadn't heard of it. I often use tea-tree oil which is effective in treating many conditions too. Most of these oils have been used by native races since ages past. Tea-tree oil was used originally I understand by the Australian Aboriginies. Thanks for the info. Hugs, Maree.
