Guest guest
Jim wrote regarding cayenne pepper " And, it is antiseptic, as well. Germs seem to think it is as hot as humans do " I wonder what it does to the gut flora, if it can distinguish the good bug from the bad. I've been a huge advocate of cayenne for years. Another important thing it does is to stop bleeding instantly. Interally or externally. Good idea to carry a bag of it in the glove compartment of your car in case of an accident. Although I've not had reason to try it in that way (thank heaven) I've heard that it doesn't sting when applied to an open wound. In the past I've used it to stop the bleeding of a baby goat's navel as a last resort and it worked perfectly and instantly and he never cried. It also helped my husband's circulation (he has heart disease) tremendously! Sharon
Guest guest
Dorothy, You will no doubt get lots of testimonials on cayenne. I have used it for 20 years. I used to take it daily to prevent or chase away colds or flus, before I discovered soil bacteria for that. I have personally seen it give total relief to a young girl with ulcerative colitis after both the surgery & drug docs gave up on her. I had read that it will heal any ulcer inside or outside the body. She tried it & overnight went from 21 bowel movements per night to one. (Her Jewish parents gave me Christmas presents for years!) I have given it to six week old puppies with their food and those dogs never had a worm in their lives, even years later when they weren't taking cayenne & lived in yards with other dogs that did! Take it after no less than 3 good sized bites of food & follow with a minimum 2 more bites. Failing to follow this rule will get warm. If you feel too much warmth in your stomach, just drink a glass or two of water. jim dbates3809@... wrote: > > To all: I have been reading about the healing properties of cayenne pepper > and wonder if anyone has experience with it? I was reluctant to add anything since I expected and inrush of replies:) See below for mine. Here is an experiment that I have been doing for 6 days (Friday is day 7). I have petechia on both lower legs. I am an ex- linebacker (american football) and prop (rugby) and am rather large. For the last 3 years, I have alarmingly noted the rise of the petechia. I have tried several things including cayenne with no success. The new arthritis creme with capsasin (spelling?) was a definite heater, so I thought about its use here instead of a cayenne tincture and purchased a tube. Every other day, I have rubbed the capsasin 0.075% creme on the left lower leg and left the right alone as a control. After two treatments, I noted a dramatic decrease in petechia on the left leg. Amazing. Now I reason that I was applying **too little** cayenne internally and not any externally for this problem (I don't think to use poultices and external application as much as I should). What is nice about the creme is that it is safer than tincture of cayenne and also not staining. I hesitate to post this since the jury is still out--I will report again in a few more days. If anyone else has petechia, I like to know how they do. I rub a moderate amount of capsasin P 0.075% onto the area with petechia every other day. The warmth of the creme lasts for almost the two days. Do it after a bath since a bath will fire up the leg big time:) --Learned that day 3! Whew! I speculate that this might be of benefit to those with wounds that don't heal (put creme around wound area to promote blood flow) and diabetics with poor circulation in the extremities. That, also, would be an interesting experiment for someone to try. > dbates3809@... wrote: > > > > To all: I have been reading about the healing properties of cayenne > pepper > > and wonder if anyone has experience with it? As I understand it, cayenne, if *not* cooked is not an irritant, nor " hot " . It is warm and warming. I use it with veggie juice and most foods and have grown so accustomed to it that I don't care to be without it. I like Tabasco Sauce and the 5-alarm sauces as well, but those are different from the herbal use of cayenne. Believe it or not, the best stuff generally speaking is that produced for the kitchen if relatively fresh. Herb manufacturers must have noted that since I now am seeing cayenne in capsules rated at 100K heat units. The best for medicinal use is 200K plus. Making a tincture with this is easy and is a good lesson in making herbals. Use habaneros (flaming hot stuff )and the freshest hottest cayenne powder. As with all herbals, time this with the moon. Beginning with the New Moon and completing it on the Full. (I don't know why, but it makes a difference.) Careful with the eyes and mucus membranes. (As an aside, you might find this funny: I was fussing with some tincture of cayenne and forgot all about it being on my hands when I went to the loo. Towards the end of operations, buffered by paper or not, I realized most directly that my hands had not totally been cleaned of cayenne. I stepped lively for about an hour afterwards!) Cayenne is a specific for the Circulatory system as a whole. It works on all parts of it. It seems to regulate it. If the BP is low, it raises it; if high, cayenne lowers the BP and so on. It aids digestion, stimulates the endocrine and nervous systems. It does more, however, the best way to think about it is in the answers to this question: how would the body be affected if circulation were improved. For one, more oxygen would be delivered to the body areas in general but most importantly to those areas that are in desparate need of it. One should think about vitamin B6 as well in this regard. Where we are blocked in an area over a prolonged period, disease forms. Poor circulation of the heart, arteriosclerosis; the pancreas, diabetes; the brain, stroke; the kidneys, renal failure; the liver, you get it... I think that cayenne is a vital component in oxytherapies as an aid to the delivery of the oxygen, especially when we are talking about the simple benign methods like Homozon, ozonated h2o, etc. I am getting the impression that the next herb du jour is going to be cayenne and soon you will see infomercials on cayenne like cayenne tai-bo, ronco cayenne-o-matic, and so on. It is a miracle herb for right now, today. Why? God just did not make it yesterday, it has always been here. Our society (Western) has changed to one that is more sedentary. Cayenne is fiery and is an excellent tonic for sedentary folk. For a junkfood junkie, cayenne might be that kick in the pants that they need. See in ayurvedic medicine the three qualities: rajas, sattwa, and tamas (catabolic, metabolic, and anabolic). Were we more active or more passionate, we might not be as benefited by cayenne and would find benefit from a soothing or sedate herb or food. Nearly everyone would benefit from it. And I am going to stop blowing the pepper corn here. Search the web. Dr. prasied it up and down. Doc C was a pioneer in modern naturopathy and merits an attentive ear. One thing I must note and note with a *big caution*--- large doses of cayenne are needed for today's illnesses. This can have a profound effect on the body, so be careful. Like I mentioned in my experiment above, I did not note any benefit with cayenne internally until I turned the heat up! I hope to have been of service. Guest guest
Hi , This reminded me of my Great - Grandfather , he had stomach cancer and ate a wild plant that when I looked it up there were warnings about severe irritation to mucus membranes. Well he was Native American and had his own beliefs so when he ate it he said it burned like the duce. He lived to be 98 years old. He had 9 children & everyone with one exception got cancer. And his grandson had testicle cancer & my Mom is recovering from that uneeded mastectomy. My Gram refused chemo and any other medical treatments. She is 90. She also had stomach cancer only hers was connected to the sm. intestine too. That was in 1983 she did have surgery. I would use as much as you can take. In his book, Curing with Cayenne he give dosages for specific illnesses. He says: " The starting or maintenance dose of any tincture is one to two dropperfuls three times a day. This would be six dropperfuls per day. This is a starting dose that gets you used to any formula. There are about thirty drops of tincture in a dropperful. So by taking six dropperfuls a day, you are getting about 180 drops of tincture a day. In all these dosages, I am talking about great tinctures you make yourself. I am not talking about the weak junk sold at stores and labelled by the industry as " super potent. " " special extraction " process, and one hundred other herbal lies. Most herbalists suggest a starting dose of 5-15 drops twice a day of a weak healthfood store tincture. This is 30 drops a day of weak stuff that cannot heal seriously-ill people. What I am talking about is 180 drops a day of tinctures that are, on average, 10 times stronger than regular tinctures - because you will be packing the jar with herbs, instead of using some low, pathetic standard that everyone else follows. Guest guest
Hello Cayenne pepper in " OO " capsules doesn't cause stomach upset if the stomach is in the right place. See: http://www.energybalancing.com/selfeval/stomachup.html for a description and remedy for the problem. I just finished the Master cleanse and took over 8 caps of our own very hot home-grown cayenne per day for 10 days with nothing else in the stomach but lemonade. No problems. My wife never used to be able to handle cayenne until I adjusted her stomach. She just completed the cleanse with me with no stomach discomfort from the cayenne. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Don't take cayenne capsules. You can burn your gut if you take too much. If you take cayenne and you can taste/feel it, you won't over-dose. Cayenne improves peripheral circulation, is good for the skin. I think it is good for infections (candida, parasites) but I am going from memory on that one, so I may be mistaken. Guest guest
We use cayenne daily. Until you get used to it, it can be a little burning. It is very alkaline and will help to neutralize acidity. It also stimulates a stronger heartbeat and the peristaltic action of the intestines. Capsules are fine. You can't really overdose on it. Try to stay with the milder cayennes though. 50,000 Heat Units or less. The higher ones can be a little unpredictable as far as having a burning sensation in the stomach. Even then, they don't harm you, they just feel like they are. You can even treat bleeding ulcers with it. Guest guest
Years and years ago I did pr and set up author tours. One of my favorite authors was Dick Quinn who wrote Left for Dead. It was about a botched heart bypass and how he turned his life and his health around by using cayenne. The guy was 60, looked 40, and ran around like a 20 year old. It is very informational I recently saw it on ebay but don't know if it is in print. He received fabulous letters from readers and buyers of a cayenne capsule he came up with (Heartfoods) and some of the stories were miraculous. I always enjoyed stopping by his office to read the latest letters. If you get a chance see if your local library has it or order it from ebay. Great for increasing your circulation without increasing your blood pressure. Jeanne

I buy mine in bulk from herbalcom.com and capsule it myself in size " 00 " capsules. I must take it with a meal or very soon after, and preferably then with a halfpint of kefir. Judy PS I used to be in PR. jeanne_simons@... wrote: Years and years ago I did pr and set up author tours. Guest guest
Thanks Rowena. I'm amazed by the amount of knowledge in this group and by everyone's generosity of spirit!!! I think bicarb (baking soda) (sodium bicarbonate) was one of the other ingredients, maybe a charcoal tab as well. So long ago now! I may also have put in some valerian and/or feverfew. If you can find the book by Jethro Kloss Back to Eden (which is where I read about it) (http://www.iamm.com/capsicum.htm) it will say it is one of the most wonderful herb medicines, can be put in an open wound, either in a fresh wound or an old ulcer.
