Yes, I'm originally from land (now in Naples, NY) and still have family

there. They slept through it but heard others in the area that felt it (near

polis).

Ayosdi-

Just wanted to say hello and welcome! I am Becky and I live in

Connecticut with hubby and 3 kids at home, but grew up in NY state. I

worked in Seneca Falls actually, back in 1980-81 as a computer

programmer and just loved it there. Such a pretty town. Sorry about

your son. My oldest son also crossed over that Rainbow Bridge....some

things you just don't get over, so my heart goes out to you.

Again, welcome and get ready for the " addiction " to take hold once

that first batch is in the mold(s)! I truly love making CP soap!

Well, we are fine here at my house. Have a good day.

Lee Hope you are okay!

The only time I was near an earthquake was after the fact coming across the Bay Bridge a year later, praying like crazy it would not happen again

We have had several small ones in New York over the years, seems they are coming from the Adirondack mountains , there is a fault running through the state up that way, never has registered over a 3.5, thass enough for me, and mostly never even felt it, ' just a loaded truck going by!'

Keep safe

Tell me, I quake at t-storms and wonder when this house will get struck!

It was last August and also in June!

Tornadoes do not seem to hit here, but shear winds do, and they are damaging almost as much as a tornado proper!

Tornados Do scare me also, Thankfully I've never witnessed a huricane... We have had two small earthquakes here in Ohio, but the center was in the southern part of the state, the only thing they did here was rattle a few dishes, no damage, and thankfully that was several years ago... I didn't even Know we had earthquakes in this area...

I am a California native, born and raised here, so earthquakes are pretty commonplace. Now tornadoes and hurricanes would scare the devil out of me!

Lee..

Glad you are OK from the quake. I used to have a house in LA... loved the Northridge quake.. that one really rattled our cages. I never freaked from the quakes after my first one LOL. After that I was all right. Now I deal with hurricane threats and a passing tornado every now and then. I preferred just having the wrath of a snow storm to contend with rather than all these other things :) Ariadne

I was there one day post-op. It was pretty frightening but they all took it in

stride because they have had so many earthquakes down there. I was sitting in

the waiting area talking on my cell phone. My son was in my room. The nurses

told everyone to stand in the doorways. After it was over, he and a nurse came

to me. I went outside along with everyone else. There was a slight aftershock.

It was a little scary because I couldn't understand what was being said around

me. The  hospital was perfectly okay. There were trees and telephone poles

swaying. After a few minutes, we all went back in.

I live not far from Mexicali and it was a pretty good one, centered about 23 miles south of Mexicali. We were pretty shook up, hardest one i've felt since moving to this area. However, I have not heard of any major damage. I suggest you call the hospital or email Gabby and they can let you know if it affected anything.

I was there and it shook pretty good for about 30 seconds. No damage at

all---and the building was IMMEDIATELY CHECKED. We even talked to the owner of

the hospital. All is safe.

I love it when kids get that sense of pride in family.

~~~~~~ Oh, that's such an excellent quality to have as a parent. My own mom
could do that - of course, she could ALSO make us quake with a glance (also
an excellent quality to have as a mom of four kids under the age of 10...)!
