Guest guest
Hello, We bought two chairs from an antique store but when we got them home, we realized they have a musty odor that we can't seem to get rid of. Does anyone have any words of wisdom on how to get rid of the smell? We called the store and they said to take the bottom liner off and spray with Febreeze. We hesitate in doing this as the smell is not just in the seat - it is in the back, arms, it's everywhere. I've already Febreezed the complete chairs and the odor is not as overwhelming, but it is still there. It looks like the upholstery is new as there are no signs of stains or wear. I am also wondering if this could be a health issue. Thanks for any help. Marie
Guest guest
I would saturate it with vinegar. That would be the best way to get rid of the smell. The vinegar smell will dissipate...then you can cover it with the other smell good kind of stuff if you want.CarolineHello, We bought two chairs from an antique store but when we got them home, we realized they have a musty odor that we can't seem to get rid of. Guest guest
call a professional upholstery cleaner. We own a carpet cleaning business and we clean furniture as well, depending on the fabric. Shari
Guest guest
Hi Marie, Don't know where you are, but is sitting the chairs in the sun a possibility? What about sprinkling on baking soda and letting it sit for a few hours before vacuuming? Let us know what works!! By the way, do you think there is a mold issue? Peace on earth.
