Guest guest
Hi Suzi, According to Dr. Amen, brain specialist, compulsive behavior indicates to much activity in front of the brain and a deficit in seritonin. Excersise is always recommended. In fact, maybe her mom can put her walking shoes on and take daughter to the loveliest place she can get to for a good strenuous walk once a day. I'd also get her into qi gong or yoga, something with a breath flow focus. Of course she does need to let go of unhealthy relationships, but easier said than done I know. Good nutrition and good oils (NOT fish oils!). Remember, the more resistance we put up, the more painful the struggle. Embrace the joy of great health! Best of luck to all. Peace on earth. Guest guest
Oh God, the cravings are unbelievable. I had to bring myself off of oxycontin. I would shake and break out in a sweat all over my body, even my hair would be wet. (and I have long hair) I shook so bad that Rich once I was having a seizure. What I needed to do is take myself off a little at a time. It took a looong time but I did it and have no more craving for that crap. If she's getting the drugs from friends than chances are that she won't be able to get off them by her self. She would need a supply for a period of time. It took me three months to get completely off. If she can't do that then I would suggest professional treatment for detox. She may not like it but once that crap is out of you (at least I felt it) she will feel the difference and have no cravings after. Depending on how long she has been doing them it will take a bit of time before the endorphin faucets turn back on in her brain. I hope this helps. Poor thing, I know what she's going through. I'm never going through that again. I hope she feel the same way when she's done. I hope she gets the help. Guest guest
Suzi, If the friends daughter was taking the pain meds illegally. Please disregard the next paragraph. Tell your friend to take her to the doc and see if he can help. If she is still hurting. maybe the doc can give her a milder dose or something like that. me, I have Hydrocodone and morphine sulphate here for my severe back pain. I am not addicted to them, but they are here if I have severe pain. Instead, I also have a prescription of Trammadal(Ultram). I rarely take it, but have the last few days. Doesn't help much, but it helps the aches and pains. Now, if this was illegal doses of a pain med this girl was taking. It might be best to take her to a drug rehab center if it is affordable or insurance is there. In any case and doctors will almost always tell you this, is to not quit cold turkey. Slowly weaning herself off would have been the best thing. The bad thing as well, is if she is still hanging around with the same friends or in the same neighborhood. One other thing that may help is Narcotics Anonymous(NA). They helped my nephew and he has been clean for a little over 4 years. That and getting away from his old friends/neighborhood, did wonders. While NA is usually not in the phone book. They do have a web site: http://www.na.org/ The local meetings are free to join. They will take donations, but the main org stresses that they are self supporting. I have bought cans of coffee, cups, sugar, cream and pop for them. Hey, I figure if it is getting old here, they can more use it than the dump. Least, that's what I tell my nephew. I buy it on purpose, for them. If your friend can't find a local to her, NA group. Call a doctor or hospital. If the hospital, ask to speak to Social Services. I any case, they should be able to help you. As not all groups have a web page or contact number. I know the local NA group to me, is not on the national groups web site. I will get on my nephew about that. No names have to be mentioned. As a last resort. Call your local police department and ask. Tell them it isn't for you or the friend, but for someone else. If this doesn't work. I can't help anymore. If I said you above. I was talking about your friend or the daughter. Guest guest
And if you can't find NA, try AA. They are in every country in the world. Sometimes the local AA number will also be able to give you an NA contact number. I volunteer in our local AA office and give out the NA number on a regular basis.
