Her name is Sadie and she is the "pack leader" she is going on 13 years old and has really lost a lot of her bladder control. The vet told me to make sure to wipe her off using those doggie wipes and gave me some Rx. Powder to put on it. I just have had no luck in getting rid of that sore. Any suggestions? Lynn I'm so sorry for your dog. The area should be kept dry, of course, and Hydrogen peroxide works on me for infection, however, it does sting a little, Would corn starch help? I used it on my daughter lo' these many years ago when all laundry soap had enzymes in it and she had diaper rash long after she was potty trained. Ok it was the early 1970's. Sigh. Guest guest
I did ask the vet if I might use corn starch on her but they said that they would rather I didn't because it's not sterile and didn't want her to get an infection. The powder they give me is sterile. I'm trying to keep her as dry as I can but with her leaking all the time it's just not always possible. She's such a good girl too. Guest guest
It could be. She is going to be 13 years old in September. She has really bad arthritis for which she is on daily medication. The meds that she takes don't do anything to cause this kind of a problem. I'm just really wanting to take care of this for her because this is really kind of a nasty place to have a sore. I hate the thought of her burning every time she pees. OUCH!!! My poor little honey girl. Sadie has been such a sweet, good, loving, loyal and affectionate girl all these years, and I just want better for her than for her last years, or what ever, to be filled with more suffering than happy times and restfulness, a soft fluffy bed to sleep on and a nice full tummy. She's frail and moves slowly but she's pretty much in good spirits and still has a very good appetite. Guest guest
Did you consult a holistic vet, one who does homeopathy, acupuncture, chiropractic, etc.? If not, I suggest that you find one. AHVMA - American Holistic Veterinary Medical Associationhttp://www.holisticvetlist.com/ Of course, not all holistic veterinaries are listed here, but you can find many. If you don't find one in your area, I'm sure that you can find one who works by phone also. Rena Lynne Yo9u wrote I have a something for anyone in here who might know or have any suggestions. Guest guest
You can use aloe vera and or vitamin E. In both cases be sure that they are edible and not cosmetic products. Guest guest
Well if what I have planned doesn't work for him then that's the path I'm headed down. If I can't stand itching and breaking out in hives then I'm sure not going to let my doggie suffer from it either. I've already gotten tips on the foods available and we'll take if from there.
