Guest guest
Syl, I know the "FDA" has not set standards yet.... whether it is or isn't.... however Mullein is generally safe, and there are no known contraindications to its use during pregnancy or lactation, except for rare reports of skin irritation. If it were me I would use in moderation. I havent been able to find any info stating it is unsafe, but wanted to be sure. I'm trying to assemble a mild tea for my daughter to use - she has a really bad cough which has been keeping her up at night and sore abs from the coughing. i was hoping to make something that would soothe her throat and calm the spasms. So far i have lavender, red raspberry (bonus for pregnancy!) and thought the mullein would be helpful. I dont have any Slippery elm in herb form, only powder or i would add a littlethanks in advance for any inputsyl------------------------------------
Guest guest
Mullein is safe during pregnancy, but Lavender is not (smelling it during pregnancy is fine, but it's not considered safe to ingest or put on the skin when pregnant. It is considered too harsh on the liver and may cause allergic reactions.) It might be worth getting the Slippery Elm... Also safe are: Nettles are good for lungs & sinuses, Chickweed is good for phlegm in lungs, Red Clover for any weakness of the lungs & immune system, Scullcap for stress, tension, sleeplessness & calming, Yellow Dock (with Raspberry & Nettles) is excellent for building the blood and strengthening to the body... Guest guest
wow, really? no Lavender? My Women's Herbal said it is ok in small amounts. Thanks for the the input Jan. Unfortunately by the time i have the $$ for or could get Slippery ELm or Nettles in - she will hopefully be well. I wanted something i could take her today and have those to hand (and already mixed the Raspeberry leaf and Lavender (but ok - cause i can always use it if i get a cold?) Really wanted stuff that might be aromatic, as well as help her body get well and help her breathe. thanks again Syl --- In health , " Jan " <jangonz9@...> wrote: > > Mullein is safe during pregnancy, but Lavender is not (smelling it during pregnancy is fine, but it's not considered safe to ingest or put on the skin when pregnant.
