Guest guest
Hi Carol, Not to make lite of your vision problem but I had the same problem at night. In the daytime I was fine but if I couldn't get home by dusk I either didn't go, or I had someone with me to drive after dark. Then one evening while on my way home from Ball State I had my bro. driving, He suggested I try wearing my glasses, ta da!! It worked, no more night blindness or the " halo " effect. Now I can stay out after dark all by myself. Judy In Indy
Guest guest
it could also be symptoms of cataracs. i also have glaucoma and night vision can be a problem too. definatly have your eyes checked. my new glasses have a coating on them that is supposed to help with night vision. good luck on your trip and try not to worry too much. kathy in il
Guest guest
Hi Carol...I think I'd get my eyes checked next week. It's probably not anything bad, but on these meds better to be safe. Have a safe journey. Hugs of Hope... Tess
Guest guest
Carol, I was just going to mention that I have Sojren's and have to put artificial tears in my eyes several times a day.........a couple months ago I had a sinus infection that went to my eye and ended up setting off the Sojrens.....when my eyes are tired they still blur my vision..and some days I forget to add the drops .........also I get mouth sores usually the day of my MTX and for a day or so after ........part of that is also Sojrens and part is MTX ....I just try to take an extra folic acid on day after MTX day and take Salogen daily to help produce more saliva and eye fluid. I am extremely nearsighted...wear bifocals and used to wear contacts.......havent tried them in over a yr cos of Sojrens .......but any way what I was going to say was I am 50 now and since I was 40ish I have had trouble with night vision for driving......I have been told to just try to limit my night driving which I do. I used to be able to see so good in the dark at night when and if I got up w/o my glasses ........now I dont see like I used to ..a lot of it is tear flow though ..I know if I put in the drops every couple hours.my vision is great.......... Anyway , good luck ....Judy in AZ
Guest guest
Hi Judy. I don't wear glasses for distance, but maybe I need to have my prescription checked! Could just be a symptom of tired eyes, like when you weren't using your glasses and strained your eyes. Glad your problem was solved! Guest guest
HI Carol….. just a bit of the eye situation…when this first developed for me, I had extreme trouble with my eyes at night….and the left one was blurry at the bottom,,,,,,I went to the eye doctor and it was determined it was cataracts…I am not saying that is what you have but if you have coverage for your eye doctor you should go …..it is not really that they treat you with anything for the cataracts until they get to the point you want the operation…. they did not tell me the catalyst for the cataracts ….but it was a relief to know….i also got some distance glasses with a lens that reflects the lights back so that the aura or halo effect from the traffic lights and car lights does not bounce back to the eye and create the effect..i can drive very well at night now… periodically on the vioxx I was getting great visual disturbances of kaleidoscopes when an animated movie would be on…the flashing lights was too much for the eye… anyway….this is just my story and hopefully you can pull something out of this….i have also since been diagnosed with sero negative RA and was suggested this could be a part of it… Good luck and please let us know…coz I know it can be kinda tricky to figure it out….i saw an opthamologist which is a true eye doctor…not an optometrist…my doctor had to refer me… Sincerely Sam [ ] Vision question I just remembered something I wanted to run by the group. When I was driving home from Atlanta, I had some pretty pronounced problems with my vision. I felt just fine while it was daylight, but once it got dark everything seemed a little blurry and I had trouble making out objects in the distance. I also had a " halo effect " . I was surprised because I have not noticed any other problems with my vision. I take MTX and Plaquenil, and was still taking some prednisone. I do get dry eyes with my RA (especially when I flare), and they felt somewhat dry that night. Could the dry eyes or RA be the culprit? My fear, of course, is that it is related to the Plaquenil. I am due for my 6 month eye exam next month. Should I wait so long as it doesn't get worse? Or when I get back in town next week, should I go have it checked? Last week I had terrible mouth sores, now vision concerns. The side effects from the medications are pretty scary at times! By the way, my RD said to get an over the counter medication called Amosan for the mouth sores (you have to ask at the pharmacy, but don't need a prescription). It worked amazingly well. Just wanted to share that in case anyone else gets them. As always, thanks for your support and advice! Hugs, Carol in FL
Guest guest
Hello... I too have had problems with my eyes...I have had to have my percripstion changed at least 4 times in the last 2 years. Just had it done a few months ago...and think it will need to be done again. I get the blurry vision, double vision. I wonder if it has anything to do with the condition or the fact that it could be old age...hehe. The only med that I am on for the rheumatoid is Mobic...is anyone else on this? I go at the end of the month and trust me..he is going to hear an earful from me. He has been playing practice pills on me for 2 years now and nothing is working, and quite frankly I am getting sick and tired of being sick and tired. The pills make me sick, make me gain weight, and I am not having it. I have enough to deal with without anything added...Hope to hear from you all... Guest guest
Don't be surprised if your vision continues to change as you lose weight. My doc said that the position and shape of the eye is very much related to the amount of fat surrounding it. Yee ha for any improvement in your vision! in SC 2/22/02 288-

But, my vision has gotten much better since my operation 2 weeks ago. In fact, today I went to the eye doctor and he said that I had a 50% improvement in both eyes. He is not used to people getting better vision... :-) Has anyone had this situation..????? Elliott Masie

Guest guest
Hi , I agree with Suzi here. The Eyebright can really work wonders, though it may take a while, and take some getting used to. Do you have access to what it would take to make it yourself, or perhaps a local herbalist you can buy it from ready-made? Guest guest
I would also add lutein and zeaxanthin. And maybe get a second opinion - a film over your eye is not normal. Carol
