Guest guest
A few things I look for are 1. diet history- have they made any good attempts in the past, if not then why? And then I put them on a supervised diet for 3-6 months to determine if they can be compliant. 2. history of eating disorder would also be a trigger. Not that they wouldn’t be a good candidate for gastric bypass but you may need to get more info about that. 3. how they understand the information and diet progression. Some patients just cannot grasp the importance of sticking with each diet phase and how much of a lifestyle change this surgery can be. These are just some things I keep my eyes open for. Not that I wouldn’t recommend them for surgery but they may need to be followed longer before clearing them for surgery to determine if they are going to able to do this. Hope this helps….i would like to hear what others have to say. Amy Re: Contraindications to surgery Please post replies to list.
