Guest guest
Yes very much clay. When I first moved here I had to relearn everything I knew about growing anything. I had never seen 'dirt' like this before. I hate it. Good news on buttercups Another poster came up with this I think, like a lot of lawn weeds, the key is to eliminate the factors that are causing them to thrive. Buttercups like damp areas, so maybe there's a drainage problem that can be addressed? I guess it's why we don't have them here, waaaay too much sand, if I remember Kentucky soil rightly it's clay. ~Katy Sheep to the right; His Lamb “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength" Isa 30:15 http://orchardhouseheirlooms.com/product_info.php/cPath/157_163/products_id/199 survival seeds Christian-homesteaders/?yguid=227010598 biblical survival
Guest guest
Oh, I have nightmares still about shoes so full of clay I can barely walk, I was 8-11 then. We had to have a scraper by the porch, can you add sand to your soil? I lived close to Louisville, [pronounced Loo' ville]. ~Katy Sheep to the right; His Lamb “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength" Isa 30:15 http://orchardhouseheirlooms.com/product_info.php/cPath/157_163/products_id/199 survival seeds Christian-homesteaders/?yguid=227010598 biblical survival -- Re: Good news on buttercups Yes very much clay. Guest guest
I am on the other side from Lou-vul..lol I have my share of sand here too. I need good old BLACK or at least brown dirt. The other things that can survive are weeds. Guest guest
Yup, red clay, yuck! Well if you add manure and leaf mold to it it will be so much nicer, but I hear that butttercups can be best killed with squirts of vinegar. Vinegar is a very strong chemical and it will kill nearly everything, so be very careful. ~Katy Sheep to the right; His Lamb “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength" Isa 30:15 http://orchardhouseheirlooms.com/product_info.php/cPath/157_163/products_id/199 survival seeds Christian-homesteaders/?yguid=227010598 biblical survival -- Re: Good news on buttercups I am on the other side from Lou-vul..lol I have my share of sand here too.
