Solaray is very good. I used a 25-mg balanced B from them.

Twinlabs.

Brainchild's makes an excellent multi-vitamin/mineral that is highly

absorble and kid's like. You can add the B6 separately too if you

like. That is turning out to have major benefits.

Hi again DawnMarie,

I'm very much NOT an expert when it comes to this stuff, but I did

have the impression when I figured this stuff out for my son that

Andy was implying with his recommendation for B's that you would be

taking the standard B50 or B100 complex. Now, the one I have in

front of me would give my son at his current dose (and he is about

the same size as yours) 50 mg of B1, 50 mg of B2, etc, per day

(divided into four doses) except for the biotin and folic acid,

which would be much smaller amounts.

So, according to what I'm doing, your son would be getting quite a

bit less of each of the B's except for maybe the B6 because mine is

a blend of p5p and pyroxidine HCI. (I supp the MB12 separately at

high doses, but I don't think we need to worry about that according

to Andy's rec's they're getting plenty of that!).

Now, Andy's comments are recommendations only, and the dose you have

might be sufficient for your son. I don't know. Obviously, lots of

kids need different total amounts and different ratios of the B's

than what is considered standard. But if you want to follow Andy's

recommendation more closely, you could just add in half or three-

quarters of a B50 each day to the Brainchild.

Maybe someone who is much better than me at this could help you. I

realize what I'm saying isn't much help. Sorry.

Hi Anita,

I really appreciate your feedback on my supplement questions! THANK YOU! I

ordered

Andy's book last week but don't have it yet, so maybe that would have told me in

a clearer

fashion what his recommendation meant. I appreciate you clarifying it for me in

the

meantime.

My son has been GFCF since last August and SCD since October, supplements since

September. He had a lot of gut issues and immune system supression so we were

busy

handling those consequences for a while. Nonetheless he's not made as much

progress on

the supplements as even our DAN! doc expected. Granted, no two kids on the

spectrum

are the same, but I would almost argue that NONE of his supplements except for

the B12

injections made a noticeable difference in him. That let me to believe that

maybe we ARE

under-dosing him. Then again, I didn't want to jump to that conclusiion and be

wrong.

Anyway, you have been wonderful.

My son needed a whole lot more than the doses you indicate here, but

especially of the vitamins I have kept above, he needed a lot more of

these.

But your child might be doing just fine with these doses.

Hi Gretchen,

What is the brand name of this suplemment please? I remember 2 years ago while

in Brazil I took B12 injections ..But for a very long time I don't take any B

complex vitamins.Funny you are saying about the black peppers here. I have been

eating a lot of chillies, I love it, but maybe, just maybe could also be bad for

the hot flashes and night sweats too...lol

Hi Amy,

On the B6, Dr. Gareth Parry (CMT expert in Minnesota) has told

us " The RDA (recommended daily allowance) of vitamin B6 is 2 mg and

the MDR (minimum daily requirement is 0.1-0.2 mg). The amount in a

typical multivitamin is 5 mg although many have 10 mg and, obviously,

some have 8 mg. There are several products available over the counter

that contain 20 mg. I tell my patients under no circumstances should

they take more than 20 mg daily and I prefer them to take no more

than 10 mg daily. 8 mg daily is certainly safe. " You can read more

Most B vitamins tend to increase yeast, and some of them require other

supplements. Exactly what were his symptoms that make you say " not so

Depends on the child, and how much B6 you are giving.

Some kids do better with P5P instead of B6.

Hi ,Wow, I'd heard that some people pass that black gunk when fasting or using an intestinal cleanser! I have never passed anything like that. I'm curious now, and wonder what I would see coming out on a long term fast for myself. So, please describe it again, because I am not sure what you indicated....did you have a continuous shedding of black gunk from day 16 through 37? Was this black grudge in one piece, or in pieces? Did it have a shape, like rubbery, or was it mushy and falling apart? Sorry for the questions...I'm just trying to figure out what was going on.A 37 day fast is a humungous effort, and there are many women that will never complete it. The longest I could go was a 10 day fast with water only, and it was really challenging. I am gearing up for another fast, (actually I am on day 2 of a fast right now), and I believe personally for me, it is more of a mental challenge than anything else. There are times I just can't fast because the willpower is not there, and there are other times that I am so determined that nothing will stop me. I have concerns about the distilled water....there is controversy about using it because all the minerals are gone, which leaves it very acidic. I prefer alkaline water myself, and have made sure we have minerals in our water. Do you still drink distilled water, or did you only use it for your fast?The seating position on the toilet was discussed in Bernard Jensen's book "Dr. Jensen's Guide to Better Bowel Care", which ALSO, by the way, has some incredible pictures of the black sludge that comes out of you when you follow his program! HINT: Ladies, this is a good book to get for following a detoxification program!! Highly recommended!

Hi-No, the black gunk was not continuous nor slimey, it was solid. I know this may sound weird but it generally came out on Saturday and Sunday, it would approx a foot to a foot and half at a time. Reason: I was taking my PowerGrab formula Monday thru Friday, what this formula is designed to do is soften the gunk and grab it, it will bulk up and become a more constipating formula, so it made since that the following day after being done when I wasn't loading my body with PowerGrab any longer.The first time the black gunk came out of me I was so severly numb from head to toe, when I was on the toilet I heard something hit the water and when I got up and seen at least a foot of this black sluge about the diameter of 2 inches and when i wip it was dry and crumbly, that is what continued

to come out and after I was done with the fast I had normal movements for the first time in my life.Any fasting that you do is a worthwhile, the longer you go you will have more optimun results.About Distilled water, the benefits it grabs the inorganic minerals and salts. Hi Group-Everything I am going to share has been extremely effective and the biggest part I love very inexpensive. It all may sound to simple and silly to work. Yes, it is the formula that I talked about. Can you tell us more about the Nutritional Yeast? I've used it once

before, I believe...I think it was flakes that I sprinkled into my

popcorn? I can't remember how I used it. But is this what you are

talking about?

Do you have a quality source, or is this something that can be bought at

any health food store?

Thanks! I think getting the B vitamins is going to be pretty important.

I know that the adrenal glands need pantothenic acid, and I was taking

those, but have never taken Vit B supplements since my bad reactions to

them.

I will look into this again!

Hi Patty- The most widely use for Nutritional Yeast is a vegen diet as your highest source of B vitamin is in meat and dairy. Where I purchase it in bulk is from Frontier http://www.frontiercoop.com/ or you can get it from your local health food store. With any sort of vitamin or mineral if you get it in natural form, your body will assume and assimilate what it needs and throw off what it doesn't need. If your juicing it is beneficial to add some Nutritional Yeast even if your on a fast. Sure, I'll take a sample of the PowerPoop. Is it like Cascara Sagrada?

I've spoken with other women who got their health back after doing some

serious colon cleansing through Dr. Bernard Jensen's program. Deb comes

to mind, and she was sick from her implants, got them out and struggled

for a long time. After doing Jensen's colema board and cleanse, she

felt good enough to go skiing with her kids, whereas before, she was

literally crawling on the floor!

I'll try to find Deb's story and post it, as an encouragement to our

girls who need to hear about other women getting better.

I agree that taking care of bowel health is important..though for some

women it is not the only puzzle piece to renewed health.

I've been doing coffee enemas for years, and so I do agree that

cleansing the colon is important!

B Vitamins May Lower Heart Disease Risk

A Japanese study has found that dietary intakes of folate and vitamin B6 reduces the risk of dying cardiovascular disease in females and may lower the risk for heart disease in men.

A Japanese study has found that dietary intakes of folate and vitamin B6 reduces the risk of dying cardiovascular disease in females and may lower the risk for heart disease in men.

The researchers analyzed data from over 23,000 men and over 35,600 women, ages 40 to 79, who answered food frequency questionnaires. When the study subjects were followed up at a median of 14 years, researchers found that 986 participants died from stroke, 424 died from coronary heart disease and 2,087 died from any cardiovascular disease. The analysis also showed that higher levels of folate and vitamin B6 were associated with significantly fewer deaths from heart failure in men and significantly fewer deaths from stroke, heart disease and any cardiovascular diseases in women. Intake of vitamin B12 did not show a reduction in mortality risk.

The researchers speculated that consumption of higher levels of folate and vitamin B6 might be heart protective because they reduce levels of homocysteine (an amino acid) in the blood. Studies have shown that too excess homocysteine is related to a higher risk of coronary heart disease, stroke and peripheral vascular disease. According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Dietary Supplements, clinical trials are underway to test whether dietary supplements with folic acid, vitamin B12 and vitamin B6 decreases homocysteine levels and reduces coronary heart disease risk. Some studies are also showing a link between low blood levels of folate and higher rates of breast, pancreatic and colon cancers.

How to Increase Vitamin B in Your Diet

Although the general recommended dietary allowance of folate acid from supplements is 400 micrograms a day and the risk of toxicity from taking too much folate acid is low, before adding folate acid, vitamin B6 or vitamin B12 supplements to your diet, talk with your doctor about what the right amount is for you. To eat a folate-rich diet, choose these foods:

Asparagus, avocado, corn and dark green leafy vegetables like broccoli, Brussels sprouts, spinach, collard greens and turnip greens Legumes, such as lentils, dried beans and peas, including black-eye peas and black, pinto kidney and navy beans and peanuts Fruits like strawberries, cantaloupe, bananas, oranges and orange juice Baked potato Eggs Beets Iceberg and romaine lettuce
