Guest guest
I decided not to have surgery because everyone I know whose has the surgery it was made worse, and they had to go back to the hospital for the first two weeks to have a anaesthesia-assisted BM. AND if that's not bad enough, they come back. My mother's anus was nearly sewn shut by the surgeon who did hers. ~~~~~Well, I wasn't going to post on this subject, since the only thing I did RIGHT was to have surgery, after things had gone on so long there was really no other option for me at the time. Can't say it was the most fun recuperation I've ever had, and the first BM post-surgery AIN'T for sissies (!!), but it was 20.5 years ago and (heh heh) I've never looked back. <snicker>I did most certainly NOT have to go back to the hospital in order to evacuate my bowels! I did take a pain pill, warn my husband that no matter what he heard from me while I was in there he should leave me alone, ran a hot bath while sitting on the toilet, AND made a cup of hot tea with a healthy (so to speak) shot of Crown Royal in it. And I confess I cried, even before the performance began!Wasn't fun at all, at all, but I survived it without any professional intervention. That didn't even occur to me.My anus was not sewn shut (although doubtlessly some folks may wonder about that, since I run my mouth all the time...). What was done was it was corrected, and Thank All The Gods Who Ever Were for that.I would never ever be able to live the life I'm living now had I not opted for that surgery. If it can be avoided, dare I say "Swell!"? If not, just Nike Up and DO IT, get over it and move on. Eventually you'll come to recognize that one way or another, those things HAVE TO GO.They have never come back. (Yeah, I heard that, too. Walking talking proof that It Just Ain't So).Ev"A hundred million miracles are happening every day!"

Guest guest
LOL!!!Oh, I'm sorry, I can't help it! NOBODY rushes ANYwhere when hemorrhoids are involved! Most people even lower their voices to say the word - at least, if they're talking about themselves! And if I hadn't behaved the same way, I might have been able to deal with my own in a different fashion.Seriously, though, if your brother is in truly horrific pain, he'd do best to see a GOOD doctor and find out what, exactly, his condition is. If surgery is his only option, best he just see about scheduling it. The other remedies can be used to attempt some relief in the meantime, and heck - if they really get rid of them, he can always cancel the surgery!I can tell you for a fact, the fear and pain are worse than the recovery. Guest guest
Well, shoot. Bless him. I think at this point whatEVER he can do to manage the pain is a good thing, up to and including prescription pain pills. It's temporary, in any case. Have him call that dr.I found myself in the ER for a shot; couldn't sleep and crying from the pain was keeping my DH awake, even though *I* was on the couch in the living room (I couldn't tolerate his movement on the bed). They gave me a shot and sent us home - FINALLY, I was able to get some sleep.I totally understand the pain part- turned out I had inside AND outside 'rhoids, and the innies were abscessed. Yeah. Ow.I can only repeat - the immediate time period after the surgery was NOT fun, but OMG! So worth it and I can live my life again! And they did not come back. (Now, that part might be up to him to change some things, but I'm thinking surviving the surgery would make it worthwhile...)!Ev"A hundred million miracles are happening every day!" Guest guest
I'm really glad your outcome was so good, I guess this is why so many people get it done [the surgery]. My pain has been so hideous, I cannot imagine allowing some heartless doctor [and the nurses are so much worse!] hurt me more. I too have the innies and outties, and abcesses. But I use lots of H202, colloidal silver, etc, and ACV. I'll live, but without medical intervention. ~Katy Sheep to the right; His Lamb Zeal for your house consumes me-Ps 69:9 http://orchardhouseheirlooms.com/product_info.php/cPath/157_163/products_id/199 survival seeds Christian-homesteaders/?yguid=227010598 biblical survival -- RE: Hemorrhoids revisited Well, shoot. Guest guest
Well, I'll allow as how it matters - greatly - if you get a doctor worth his salt. Mine gave me a hug when I came back in for a follow-up visit! We were both some kind of pleased at the difference! Heartless? Not that one. And the nurses were pretty good to me, except - and I'm only guessing here - the one who removed the catheter after surgery. <shrug> Could've been that internally things were somewhat swollen anyway, but LA! I had to pee and couldn't! OMG. That was just such a PITA (har har). Had to get cath'ed again, but that nurse was like my own personal Godsend, and I never felt a thing except relief.Hey, truly, I'm awful sorry about your pain, and if you can get results from what you're doing, excellent and more power to you. Honestly. But I had never heard about any of those things, and my life was swirling around the drain.Surgery WAS my option, and while it was no picnic, there was (here it comes!) a happy ending. (I know, but the entire situation is simply fraught with puns and double entendres)! My late brother sent me a Tshirt shortly after the procedure (I was better but laughing was still iffy) that had a great huge latex toilet paper roll on it that said, "Let the Good Times Roll!" ha ha ow! ha ha!I still have that shirt. I held it up when I recounted that very anecdote at his memorial service last year.I hope your remedies work well for you.Ev"A hundred million miracles are happening every day!" I Never meant it like that.~~~~~Well, perhaps my ... misunderstanding ... what you meant to say came from the all caps (cyber-shrieking) line about how EVERYONE you knew who had the surgery said different. You didn't say just you. Turns out a friend of mine knows a few people besides me who've had it done and their recollections match mine. So there you go.Why would they continue to do a procedure that NEVER works, Katy? Again, I'm sorry for your experience. I'm sorry for anyone who has hemorrhoids so badly they need surgery and it doesn't help. But that simply and plainly is NOT every single person on the planet, and I hardly think it's helpful - at all - to attempt to represent the situation as so one-sided to the list owner when her brother is looking at having it done. I never thought I'd have a stroke in fact I thought I was immortal in those days. I, in fact, really liked and trusted just about everyone in those days. ~~~~~You would need to dig MUCH deeper than that to interpret my meaning when I said most people get just exactly what they believe they will get. Much deeper, and I have no idea how to be anyone's tutor, so don't look to me for further explanations. But there are many teachers out there, tons of information - so it's kind of a "Seek and Ye Shall Find" kind of deal. I can't blame you in the slightest for your mistrust of the medical community. But not ALL of it is evil - I'm quite pleased with my dental reconstructions, including the sinus lifts and implants, and if I broke a bone, I'd go see a doctor. Indeed, I'm looking at having my left shoulder surgically repaired (rotator cuff). Not looking forward to it with much enthusiasm, since I've had the right one done a few years back, and I know EXACTLY what I'm in for. But no fears, and it is clearly becoming necessary, as I seem unable to repair the damage myself. I can only tell you that some things have been improved and changed over the last couple decades, and perhaps if you found yourself absolutely, back-to-the-wall NEEDING something done, you would have a better experience. In the meantime, I repeat, I am sorry for your pain and I hope that what you are doing begins to give you some good results.Ev"A hundred million miracles are happening every day!" Guest guest
You're welcome.I honestly feel badly for anyone in the position of needing surgery for hemorrhoids. It's just no fun. Not a bit of it, and no way to make it that way.Until it's over. Then the jokes come fast and furious, and you don't even care ("I am the butt of everyone's jokes." groan)! You can live again! Move, breathe, sleep ... I couldn't even have my cats on my lap until I was healed. It's just the pits. Now? I ride my horse, workout on the treadmill, walk my dogs, drive as long as I need or want to...LIVE, in other words. And it has remained JUST a memory for over 20 years. Tell your brother there IS light at the end of the tunnel and it isn't the train.Ev"A hundred million miracles are happening every day!" thanks ev Suzi List Owner health What is a weed?
