Guest guest
Well duh, I know that and you know that, but how many high school kids know that? Hellsbells how many adults do you and I know can comprehend that?! We sell the stuff at your snack bar in the school and I just found out the new facility is going to have a speed bar for soda!!!! ARGH!!! I'm going backwards! Every single school we receive children from ban pop from their schools in the vending machines but ours allows it to come from a tube in unlimited quantities. Makes me crazy. Shari

I was so hungry for a nice juicy fruit so I bought a pineapple, it's not any more expensive than the sugery plastic [bPA...] bottles of 'juice'. ~Katy Sheep to the right; His Lamb Zeal for your house consumes me-Ps 69:9 http://orchardhouseheirlooms.com/product_info.php/cPath/157_163/products_id/199 survival seeds Christian-homesteaders/?yguid=227010598 biblical survival -- Re: the most unhealthiest juices on the market What if you can"t read? Guest guest
Why must she be joking? There are many people in this country who cannot read or speak English. If an American citizen chooses to take a foreign bride or groom, who are any of us to say that they shouldn't, or that their spouses shouldn't be living here? There are more languages in the world than just English. What if someone is a tourist and cannot speak English and needs to go shopping for food? I've been to other countries where English was not the national language and I needed to go shopping for food. All I had to work with was the pictures on the labels. It's not that easy, but no one suggested that I leave those countries. I'm not trying to be a pain in the ass but to say that someone who cannot read or speak English should leave the country is just rude. Guest guest
Greg I think you missed the point there. " Why should we have to read labels? Why can't food be food? " is the important point. Nobody who arrived here spoke and of the native languages presently here. The vast majority of us come from immigrants who couldn't speak English. Most of us don't speak English now, we speak something I call American Speak. Just like the French cringe when you say the people in Quebec speak French. They say it's not even close. And please note here there is a vast difference between immigration and invasion. The bulk of what we know about herbal medicines and medicines in general are from foreign roots. Guest guest
Yeah [may I address you by your first name?] I believe you hit just the right point, here, if it's food why have a label at all? But then it's really not real food then is it? Mostly packaged [labeled "foods"] foods are a combination of some processed foods and chemicals. Not so appetizing when thought of this way, is it? ~Katy Sheep to the right; His Lamb Zeal for your house consumes me-Ps 69:9 http://orchardhouseheirlooms.com/product_info.php/cPath/157_163/products_id/199 survival seeds Christian-homesteaders/?yguid=227010598 biblical survival -- Re: the most unhealthiest juices on the market Greg I think you missed the point there. Guest guest
Oooooh my goodness, Greg Sweety!!! I'm 50 years old and in your post is the "first time" anyone has ever described me as "uptight". I'm pretty much just the opposite. If you only knew. LOL!!! I just never believed that any of us should have to conform to anything or be any special way or be able to speak any language to be who we really are at any given time in any place. If I'm in Germany, France or Norway or anywhere else and don't speak the native language then I can still be alright and still be myself and I wouldn't need anyone to tell me that I should leave simply because I can't speak their national language. I feel the same about the US. I would rather try to understand a good person who is here who can't speak English well, as apposed to a creep from another country who can speak fluent English. I don't always buy something if I can't read the label, but if I still know what it is on sight then that's fine. I'll grant you that it is easier to shop for the right foods if you can read what's written on the label. However I think you and I and Dice Clay, are going to have to agree to disagree here. I just don't feel that's a good enough reason to tell someone to leave my country. That's just me. Diversity makes the world go round. Guest guest
0k i've read everyone' s post.. I think (or I hope) that what is being said is that IF you are residing, living, making a home, life, in another country other than your own.. you should learn to speak the language.. that only makes sense if you are going to move from the US to Russia or China to the US... if you're going to call it "home" then you should learn the language as well as abiding by its laws and all.. Our ancestors did. Does that help everyone here? YES if you are stationed somewhere obviously you aren't going to know the language.. and maybe, not even bother to learn it.. but if it is a permanent move.. then you really ought to.. it is a benefit for you. Guest guest
Agreed, short story from today: I went to a health food store attached to a grocery store run by a religious denomination that advocates healthy living, they said they sell no meats [we were looking for tuna] , but even in the health food section the first ingredient listed on a tiny expensive[$3.79!!!!] jar of 'healthy' cranberry sauce is High Fructose Corn Syrup. The cheapo version in the grocery section had it listed second After the cranberries. We had a Turkey for dinner today. But the sauce was missing. ly I see it as hypocritical to eat pounds of soy a day and avoid meats, fish or fowl and call it healthy eating. Uh oh I'm in for it now, but I just get allergic reactions to soy products; All GM products actually.
